Vegas Recap 1
Interbike was pretty sweet this year. All of our new product lines (Profile Freestyle, Race, Fixed, MTB and Madera ) got plenty of attention. There should be some video interviews regarding the lines floating around Vital and as well as the Ride website. I'm surprised I managed to do both in one take... Microphones and cameras make me a stumbling mess.
Since Christian handled most of the product last week, here's some random photos I snapped over the three days:
Here's a photo of a fixture Corey made to present the new pivotal line in its entirety (including Madera ). Theres nine total, looks like from the feedback we got, five of these will go into production this week and will be available over the holidays.
The new Mulville Push stem is out now. 11 colors available in both 48 and 53mm.
Mulville is leaving for Philly today to meet up with Stew Johnson, Mike Aitken, Chase Hawk, Chris Doyle, and Brian Yeagle for a 10 day trails trip to shoot for Anthem 2. Congratulations to Mark for landing that deal...thats some serious sh*t.
Here's Mulville's new bike, the centerpiece being his brand new Deluxe frame.
Chris Gille's new Federal with some green/brown splatter hubs I was able to round up out of the secret Profile repository.
Somehow Pink and green go together. Joe West's new complete. Honestly, I liked this combo.
I'm pretty sure everyone heard that Bill Allen (Cru Jones) helped announce NORA cup. Not sure if anyone mentioned that he was signing his original Rad promo pictures from 1986? Cru Jones and Saavedra.
Cru and Mulville.
Jeff K's new complete. I think Jeff switches up his bike every six weeks? But every set up is clean as a whistle.
Clink the link to the Madera for another update

Enjoy.

Silly String
Mulville, Corey Alley (designer), Gus Lanzilotti (Race TM), and myself are heading out to Interbike today. We're pretty excited to preview all of the new Profile and Madera product while drinking tons of coffee. I'll have plenty of pics to post when I get back and more than likely, plenty of wordage to lay down as well.
Until then, here's more news from the dudes:
Leandro Moriera sent these photos over from a jam is Sao Paulo Brazil on September 14th. Nothing better than seeing someone go big on cement...I wonder if that single coping limbo spine has ever yoked someone off their bike?
Here's some random ones from Mulville:
Mark on Mega Tour with James from Mesh and the infamous silly string.
These never get old.
Here's the new Profile advert featured in Ride this month. Black and white. Simple. Conall Keenan, Athens Georgia.
And lastly, here's a Q and A up with Degroot on GO211. Submit a question to him, he won't be scared to answer it.
Don't be scared.

So, Happy Friday. This entire post is dedicated to Russ at Sprfls. Have a good weekend, buddy.
Rasta Hubs will supposedly be back from the painter and ready to rock by the end of next week. Matt will be taking orders for them in Vegas.
The first few sets of 175mm Vintage Box Cranks should be back from the chromer's early next week as well. They look awesome, but I don't have pics, because I left the card at home, sorry. Maybe these Mint Mini Hubs, one of the new colours for next year, will tide you over.
In case you were interested, there are a few technical changes that we've made to our hubs for next year as well. It's really nothing dramatic, but we've changed our pawls, improved the shape of the pawl pockets on our drivers for better spring response, and gone to 1/8" teeth on all of our 9 tooth drivers.
These changes for sure aren't terribly exciting, but other than completely redesign the hubshell, whaddya gonna do? Our hubs are pretty bulletproof. Profile has never been the kind of company that redesigns a perfectly good part just for the sake of having new product. We've been making our Race Cranks from the same basic design for about 15 years now. People still buy a lot of them.
We'll have more pictures of some more of the stuff from the show next week.
Stay classy.

LYOF played our last show on tour Tuesday night in Nashville, Tn.. We hooked up some some really fun shows and I got to ride some amazing spots: Brooklyn street, The Unit in Greenville care of Dan Sieg, random rest stop handrails/jersey barriers, and plenty of good street in Texas and an amazing ditch in Austin. I flew straight back to work on Wed. morning to start prepping for Interbike. Speaking of which, tomorrow we will be doing a little preview of what's to come from both Profile and Madera. Stay tuned.
Until then, this is what I had waiting in my news box:
Phil Aller from Profile Europe is coming over for the show this year. It'll be nice to see him considering it's been two years since we've hung out. He sent over these photos from a weekend on the island of Guernsey that went down a couple weeks ago.
All photos of Phil care of Joanna Mauger.
Craig Stevens sent over these photos from a mini ramp jam in Bristol, UK. Watching Craig ride a mini ramp is a treat--honestly, I've seen few people that can ride a 6 foot as fast as he can. He placed second and I'm curious to see the runs from the dude who won...they had to have been wild.
I got this text message from Dr Luis Pinzon last night about midnight eastern time:
"Just left Ride's 150th party. Attendance included: Dave Clymer, Mike Dominguez, Brian Blyther, TL, Joey Garcia, Barspinner Ryan, Gonz. Missed you bros."
Awesome. We miss you too, Doc.
Lastly, if you didn't see Saavedra's quick interview and photo shoot on the Ride website, Here's the link:
Hot Spots
Enjoy.
Stay tuned for some serious product updates/previews tomorrow: new colors, seats, and Mulville's "Push" trails stem.

Chad's Gay Adventure
There's currently a Mike Saavedra and a Mulville interview that we're finishing up for the site. I should have those posted next week, one in the beginning, one in the end. Until then, Degroot sent over this email. I can't stress enough that it's never a dull moment with Chad.
"Jay Miron said if I ever come to Toronto for the Metro Jam he is gonna punch me in the stomach. Maybe cause he is sore that I puked in his van, wow, sorry about that. You don't realize how many little spaces are in your van till puke is sent out of your mouth at the driver. Sorry again. Well, I finally made it to Toronto, not in the winter for metro Jam (to cold for my florida self). This was for my sister-in-laws wedding. See, the US doesn't recognise or support gay marriages. Canada just started to, so where else to have a wedding, Toronto. It just so happened to be a huge gay festival. Someone told me over a million people showed up. Our hotel was one block from all the chaos. The first thing i noticed getting into our hotel was the recycle bin. Canada has serious support for the earth, plus they can make a ton of money off the people who stay in the rooms. The recycle amount is nuts, specially since our bin was full each night with adult beverages. The second thing that is sweet and the US needs to follow, no High Fructose Corn Syrup in anything. If you don't know what that is, figure it out and connect the dots. You don't need that crap, or do you? So we start walking the streets and the first person we see is a girl with big boobs, naked, well it turns out she is a he and wanted to show off the new addition to his body (check the pic). We fit is pretty well seeing as we brought some afro wigs, tight "hell ya" shorts and some accesories. I am not gay, but gay people have way to much fun, it was nuts, literaly. All in all it was an amazing trip, congrats to my sister-in-law for taking the step, and not being afraid of her ways, and thanks to canada for being sweet. If Metro Jam is in Toronto this year I will be there ready for the punch in the gut. That will get me ready for my plunge over the Niagara Falls I have planned late next year...stay tuned"

ok
a bunch of stolen oleanders
Just got an email from Tony yesterday from the airport in Texas. He's heading out to the UK for an SandM roadtrip and to ride the RedBull Empire of Dirt. If you didn't see the virtual layout, here it is:
Insanity.
Once Tony's back in town, he's heading up to the Belmar Jam in Binghamton and then down to Providence to meet up with Mulville, Saavedra, Conall Keenan, and myself for a little Profile NE trails trip. Providence in the summer?, it couldn't get any bettter.
Profile UK's Levi Rogers had this little web edit floating around youtube. It's not the best quality (but then again youtube sucks that from any video) but the riding is pretty wild. All Bristol, all skatepark, all pirate...
We got the newest issue of Ride UK in the mail yesterday. On top of the loads of wild photos, this full page UGP advert came as a surpise:
Over the weekend, my friend matt and I went and rode this spot below near my house. Across the street is Department store with a bank that has been a normal session spot for us for years. On heading over there after riding the bank to wall below, I laid my camera bag down behind their nursery. I was un-pleasantly suprised when two cops rolled up in their car, jumped out and grabbed me. While restraining me, the other cop went and snatched my bag...to make a long story short, I got harrased by the cops on their assumption that I was "breaking into the nursery." I told them I was thirty one and really had no need for a bunch of stolen oleanders, rose bushes, and decorative palms. Eventually, after making me feel like a complete criminal, they let me go.
I guess it could have been worse.

Have a good afternoon.

Kevin Garwood
So you're back in England for the summer, how's that been going?
It's been good so far. I got back from the states in May and have been trying to make the most of the dry weather.
What have you been riding since you're back in the London area?
I've been riding a local concrete park (Dartford) a fair bit. Its a pretty small park, but theres some good lines in there! Ive been trying to film some stuff in London as well. So i've been heading up there at the weekends.
You said you were excited about getting "home" to ride some trails. Are your local trails still running or did they get ploughed?
Yeah I was pretty excited to get back and ride the trails. I had a few ideas of what I wanted to build since the new line at Casselberry FL ended up being real good. But a few of the jumps/rollers at my local trails have been taken out, and nobody wants them back. So I havent been going down to ride or dig really. My friend Mike (Cottle) from Florida/Pennsylvania has a couple of friends that live over here. Rob someone, and someone else! He says they just ride the trails all day, and drink all night, so im thinking of going to meet up with them!
Whats been going on with LifeCycle?
As far as the park goes, I have been offered the land, but it wont be developed until the start of next year. Its in the S.E London area (Kent), and hopefully if I can get the money together, we might be able to build a park up to 30,000 sq ft. Apart from that, the shirts are going well, so cheers to everyone whos supported that.
What are your plans for the rest of the summer?
Im going to head over to Europe in a week or so which im really excited about. I love European cities in the summer, and the riding scene out there is nice n chill! I might try to get a few people together, like Phil Aller and Connell Keenan, and take off to Eastern Europe maybe! I dunno, we'll figure out something.
Have you sorted out your Visa, and when you going back to the US and A?
Naa, I didnt get my Visa sorted out yet! I have to go up to the American Embassey in London. Its gonna cost me a few hundred quid, so I need to do some work first to get the money together. Ridings been so good recently that I havent wanted to work to get the money for it. I'll get it sorted in time for the winter though!

version
streamlined version
I just flew back into town from a nice vacation through North Carolina and down to Atlanta. It was my first vacation since 2001 without my bike; it felt great the first couple days but once we hit Atlanta and new, previously overlooked spots were popping up left and right, I started to feel anxious. I got back on my bike yesterday, sweated in the humid Florida post rain storm heat and eased back into my schedule. Vacations are amazing, but it's always nice to get back into the swing of things.
This is what collected in my inbox while I was away:
From Ty...
Blend skateparks (consisting of, Matt Gebeut, Aaron Bostrom, Ty Stuyvesant,) have just built a new park 30 minutes east of Pittsburgh in a small town called Blairsville. The park consists of Bowl corners, Hips, Grind ledges, quarter pipes, a box jump, a spine and all layered with weatherproof surface. The park was built after township meetings, private donations and individual efforts. On opening day, Crowds of local bmx riders and skateboarders waited patiently while Blend put their last finishing touches on the ramps. Blend will be heading to Indiana, Pennsylvania to Build the next park sometime in july.
Degroot just got back from a couple days in Pittsburgh visiting Mulville, Bryce Toole and Jeff Smee. I got multiple text messages from Chad raving about the spots...it seems that every summer up there avails a whole new cache of stuff to ride. Check the Madera site for photos of Bryce...and here's the new UGP ad with Degroot.
Here is one of three sets of prototype Profile pedals. Weighing in at 18.8 ounces for the set, this very slimmed down, streamlined version of the old Profile Gas Pedals are going to Tony Cardona to beat on while travelling through Europe in July. I'll keep you posted on these...
Here's the flyer for the jam that Mike Hinkens and Jeff K. are doing as a replacement for a cancelled Baco...
Here are the dates for the Light Yourself on Fire/ Racebannon tour this September. I'll be bringing my bike and I hope to ride at each of these stops. If anyone is interested in showing me some spots, shoot me an email: matt@profileracing.com.

somethings changed
polar opposites
Hey there. Matt's on vacation, he's probably still doing something BMX related. Here's a few links for you, just in case you weren't paying attention.
Mike Saavedra has a bike check on Ride US's website this morning. Click here for more.
Mark Mulville updates the Profile Racing Myspace page. If you still go on Myspace, and you're not our friend, you should change that. You should also check out the mini interview Mark did with Jeff K. Yeah.
I was just trying to check out Greg Smee's insanely not suitable for work or for kids website, so I typed what I thought was the address in the url and instead I got this: http://hereforkicks.blogpsot.com/. Talk about polar opposites just one letter apart.
Other than that, there's some crazy videos of Tom LaMarche doing things you just shouldn't be able to do on a fixed gear over at ProfileFixed. Hot.
It's pretty hot outside, but you need to go learn a new trick, so shut down the computer and get busy.

New Tony Cardona ad!
Profilefixed.com is online for all of your fixed gear needs. So go check that out, you won't be sorry.
The new RIDE US came in today. Definitely a banging issue with some of the ads even being ridiculous.
Here is the new Profile advert featuring Tony! Seeing this blast out of an un-rideable quarter in Athens was hard to comprehend. I hope the photo can justify it.
Thanks to Ryan Fudger for hooking up this bio on my band, Light Yourself on Fire...We're touring the states in September, the dates will be posted soon. Hope to see some of you there!

dr luis
Dr. Pinzon
Last Friday, longtime friend and Profile Test Ape Luis Pinzon graduated from the University of South Florida's Medical School. He is now officially a Doctor. On behalf of everyone here at Profile, I'd just like to say that I'm really proud of Dr. Pinzon, and the hard work and dedication that it took to graduate med school and still have a social life, a great relationship, and the ability to do huge 360 flatties like this one out of the Bro-Bowl last Friday night:
While most of his fellow graduates were sipping 17 dollar martini's with their parents at fancy restaurants around town, Luis met up with the usual Friday night crew for the semi-weekly downtown Tampa ride, called "Dirt Nap Friday." Several spots around town are usually hit up, but most of the time is spent doing flyout tricks at Tampa's venerable Bro-Bowl. Luis has been trying to get tailwhips for weeks now. He is so close he can taste them, but sadly, it just wasn't meant to be the other night. After we called it a session, we headed over to Tampa's equally venerable Hub Tavern for $1 Old Milwaukee's.
Luis is leading a bunch of Profile and Madera team and family riders and friends, including Conall Keenan, Dave McDermott, Vic Bettancourt, Chad Moore, Jon Wilson, Sean Albright, and Forrest Roberts to Colombia this week for some much needed vacation. Everyone brought their bike, so they will hopefully come back with at least a few pictures of some equatorial shredding.
He'll be moving to Los Angeles for his residency pretty soon. We're going to miss him a lot while he's out there. If you see him out in LA, holler at him, he's as fun a guy to ride with as you could possibly hope for.

Twilight Jam in Athens this weekend
While I'm prepping more interviews to post, here's a couple photos we've recieved recently from the dudes.
Liam fahy Hampton. Handplant somewhere down under. Photo by Cooper Brownlee.
Jared Eberwein, Tuck ho-hander at blue bench in California. If you didn't see the Profile--Woodward West edit, check back to Mondays news. Jared has some wild clips thrown in there.
Mike "Hollywood" Brancato. Lazy nosepick whip in Ohio. Watching Hollywood ride will make you want to put front brakes back on.
Gervais Rouseau. Bordeau, France. Somewhere in the suburbs. I got an email from Gervais recently that said "I'm 37, but I feel like I'm 20."
Conner Spangrud. Washington State. Cement hot bars. Last time I saw Conner, he was half this size. Photo by Shane Ryan.
Lastly, here's the flyer for the Twilight Jam in Athens this weekend. I'm pretty bummed that I can't go, but everyone else should. It's always an amazing time. Pactice starts this Friday.
