So I read on the internet that vert is dead again.
Back in the early nineties, I listened to bands like the Pixies and Fugazi. People were always telling me that rock music was dead, guitar bands were the past.
People were telling me that vert was dead then as well. In fact, people told me that bmx as a whole was dead....
On that note, I'd like to thank all the people who have spoken out against the X Games dropping ANOTHER bmx discipline ( except for Ricardo Laguna who left a post saying how happy he is? What a guy).
Whether they drop it, transform it or reinstate it, it doesn't matter.
As long as there is breath in my body, vert lives, along with dirt, flat, street, park, everything. It's all bmx.
We do it, we control it, we decide it's fate.

Screwed my other knee....
After tearing/snapping the PCL ligament in my RIGHT knee 6 weeks ago, I crashed the other night and bent my LEFT leg the wrong way. I heard a loud SNAP.
First thing I thought was that I had snapped a ligament. Next I HOPED I had 'just' broken my leg. To be honest, I started freaking out a bit thinking the worst. After about 5 minutes, I managed to get up and, after a visit to the emergency room, I found out that my knee had tried to dislocate but had snapped back into place. Basically, a bad sprain.
Lucky escape.
I'm sat on the sofa for a week or two but it's cool because I know it's not too bad. Playing lots of Super Mario and dreaming of riding..... -

winter, winter, winter....
Winter has been ups and downs for me; I tore the PCL in my right knee and the rotator cuff in my left shoulder but have avoided surgery on both. The upside is that I was only off my bike for about 10 days and got straight back to normal.
To start with, I was babying my knee a little but then I figured there was no point. My doctor told me that my knee is strong and that I can " carry on as normal".
I've been enjoying not travelling, just hanging out at home and riding lots. I've been learning lots of stuff and have half learnt a bunch of stuff which always makes me feel good. -

Summer madness
I'm home for two whole weeks, unbelievable. I haven't stopped travelling since may and have 2 weeks off before I get going again. I won't stop travelling until november when I'll end up in Dubai for the winter.
This is why a lot of 'pros' stay home and rely on video parts!!!!The airport sucks but I wouldn't have it any other way....... -

Aerosmith in Dubai????!!!
I've been neglecting my Vital page a bit recently( sorry Losey, I've been riding!), here's what I've been up to: I've been riding a hell of a lot and I've been on a bit of a roll learning stuff recently which means I'm pretty beaten up. I tore my right shoulder (which is already screwed!) amongst other things but it's no drama. I'm heading off to Dubai on thursday, to rest up for a few weeks before the first Dew Tour in Baltimore.
My friends got me tickets to see Aerosmith on 31st May. I've never really been a fan of Aerosmith, in fact, I once stopped my car and told Chris Woodage to get out because he asked me if the Black Crowes CD I was playing was Aerosmith!! I'm guessing it's going to be fun though and I'm a sucker for unexpected opportunities. So once I've rested up a bit in the sun, back on my bike and out for the start of the contest season. I'm pretty excited this year, I have a ton of new tricks and I'm more motivated than ever, enjoying riding more than ever.... -

New Mongoose Pictures
I shot new pictures for Mongoose last week with my friend Chris Woodage. I've posted a few of them in my gallery. There are no vert shots, it's just skatepark stuff.
I've been riding a lot lately but it has been soooo cold. I'm taking a little trip back to Dubai in a couple of weeks to get soem sun and visit my friends there. After that, I think I need a trip to Woodward and, by then, hopefully winter will be over. -

Happy New Year
I hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year, mine was pretty good except I haven't been able to ride much - my broken ribs from a month ago are still ridiculously sore and my whole sternum hurts no matter what I do! I had to skip the Woodward vert get-together because of it so I've been stuck at home just playing guitar all the time. Oh well, new year, new start, time to learn some new stuff!

Broken Rib! Again!
I broke a rib the other day doing one of those 'easy' 900s. It was hang front wheel or under rotate. I chose under rotate and got the handlebars in the chest. Oh well. Hit my head pretty hard as well!
It was my last trip of the year, to Dubai, for the Dubai X Games and I had a lot of fun riding with Mat Hoffman, Eduardo Terreros, Tim Wood and Jay Eggleston as well as the skaters, FMXers and Inliners. The only downer was Mat hurting his knee pretty badly and me smacking my head and body into the floor along with breaking yet another rib. I think I'm into double figures now! -

Foam free? Not by choice!
A few years ago, just before the X Games, a friend asked me what I was planning, did I have any new stuff I was saving for the X Games. I told him no, I didn't have a foam pit and so I didn't have anything new and groundbreaking. I joked that I should make my excuses before my run so everyone knew not to expect anything new and my friend made the joke about being 'foam free'. I said it would be funny if I had a 'foam free' sticker on my helmet or something and my friend got to work.
I figured my friends would get the joke and anyone who didn't, well who cares? So anyway, it was a joke. Then people kept asking me why I was 'anti-foam pits' and what my problem was. I always answered my problem with foam pits is that I didn't have one!At some point I made a comment about how learning big tricks into the foam could backfire on a real ramp because you would never have learnt a safe way to get out of it. Even though I was just thinking out loud, it was quoted and used. So, anyway, the joke is old now yet I still read quotes about how "I fundamentally oppose foam pits" and how I "prefer to learn tricks the hard way, on a real ramp".This is what we English would call 'bollocks'.The truth is I love the idea of not having to pound myself into the floor and, before too long, I'm hoping to have a foam bath of my own.In the meantime, I'll hopefully get myself out of the house and over to Woodward or somewhere so that I can finally nail those no handed tailwhip 900 flips! So, hopefully, I've set the record straight now. In case anyone cares! -

Vert makes me happy
I had the best session yesterday. I rode vert for about 4 hours, until I couldn't ride any more. I rode with my little skateboarder mate, Sam. Sam is 12 and can do head height airs, 540's, 360 varials and so much other stuff. He lights the ramp up and is going to take over the world one day, I'm pretty sure!
Considering vert was pronounced dead a few years ago, there were more than 20 people sessioning my ramp yesterday. At times, I could barely get a run! -

Don't be cheeky
Before anyone makes some sort of comment about rain and England and all that, don't. Or I'll have you flogged. Or I'll set the dogs on you or something.

Rain
It keeps bloody raining, everytime I plan to go riding, it rains. I've got my indoor ramp but I want to ride concrete. Bloody bastard rain.
