    UPS

I should have everything in the mail to build up my new bike today. I've been tracking my package on UPS.com and it's in Lss Vegas and has been out to delivery since 6:00am. I've sat around all day waiting for my stuff so I could get my new bike built and now it's 3:15pm and still have nothing. Wasted day!!! Hopefully it still shows up.

    This Past Weekend....

It's Sunday night and the weekend is officially coming to an end. I consider this weekend to have been pretty successful; here are a few details.

Friday my friend Cody and I went and saw the Glow In The Dark Tour. That tour featured N.E.R.D., Lupe Fiasco, and was headlined by Kanye West. I've always been really into Kanye and Lupe and was really stoked to see both of them! Pharrell is friends with TJ Lavin so he gave a shout out to BMX and had Lavin on stage with him for a song, which was awesome. Lupe was super on point and had all of the exact backing vocalists from his albums and Kanye's set was more of a show than a concert. He crashed his space ship and had to fix it and blah blah blah high budget blah blah blah it was awesome. Definitely a proper way to start a weekend!

Saturday I got some work done in the day then ate a proper dinner with my woman and then we saw the new Harold and Kumar movie, which was pretty hilarious in an anti-American sort of way.

Sunday I got a bit more work done and then my woman and I took my dog to the park for a walk. It was awesome, he tried to fight a few dogs that were twice his size and would have totally torn him apart. He's a badass. Then we went to Cold Stone and ate ice cream and I remembered why I'm eight times the size of the average man. And, now, I'm here writing this.

This was a pretty BMX-less weekend for a BMX blog, right? Sorry. I think I'm building my new bike up Wednesday, so I'll make up for it then!

    Anthropology.

I'm sitting in my Anthropology class and bored out of my mind, so I'm writing this blog.

This past weekend has been a crazy one.

Last Saturday was the Extreme Thing Dirt Contest, which was pretty wild. The contest was almost canceled because of crazy winds, but it calmed down just enough to start the contest after a few hour delay. Dennis Enarson ended up taking the win. The craziest part about this is that Dennis Enarson flew in from Australia less than a day before the contest and still managed to beat dudes like Cam White, Anthony Napolitan, James Foster, etc. After the contest, my girlfriend and I joined the Enarson family for dinner. I've traveled a bit with Kenny, Dennis' dad and he's one of the raddest guys I've ever met.

The next day Anthony Napolitan and I met up bright and early with plans to head to Barstow, California to check out Gordie Toth's backyard, but 40mph wins had other plans. We tried to ride in Vegas and ended up almost getting blown away.

The wind calmed down a bit, so yesterday (Monday) we drove down to Barstow for the day. Gordie's house is amazing; pretty wild cemented six-pack, wild dirt bowls, crazy satanist stuff everywhere... definitely a one of a kind place. Anthony hurt his back in a wrestling accident so he didn't ride much, but Gordie and I shot some photos and video. It was a pretty productive trip and we made it back in time for dinner in Vegas.

Then I went to sleep, woke up, and went to school. Now I want to go home.

Also, I'm sitting next to my friend The Largest Man On The Planet and he's talking about prostitutes. It's pretty awesome.

That's all for now. Time to learn.

    DK Team....

I got to spend the past few days with some of the DK/System Cycle team while they were passing through Las Vegas on their way to California to ride some shows for Maxxis. Catfish, Monkey, Brian Hunt, Tony Watkinson, and Ronnie Napolitan came out, rode bikes, and chilled. It was a good time. We filmed quite a few clips; be on the look out for a video soon!

    BMX/Super Bowl?

What does BMX have to do with the Super Bowl?

Lonie Paxton, #66 on the Patriots, has some of the sweetest trails in BMX at his house. Lonie is good friends with Heath Pinter and let Heath, Bohan, and the rest of the Corona, CA boys build jumps at his house. I'm sure you've seen them somewhere.

Long story short; BMXers better be rooting for the Patriots.

    Mark Losey.

I don't think Mark Losey updates his blog enough. Wouldn't you agree?

    Back to school......

I took last semester off of school to pretty much just live the BMX life, but that has officially come to an end. At 10:00am today, I will once again officially be a full time student at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Life isn't going to be as fun, but progression is always necessary. Holler at me, Vegas kids; I'm going to be spending quite a bit more time at home!

    blog.

losey and i don't write blogs enough; so here is one.

it's the first of december. 2007 is almost over. losey and glenn are in atlanta (i think) on a Nike 6.0 trip and i'm in vegas with anthony napolitan filming a bike check and some other stuff.

my friend ryan chadwick from phoenix made a local scene video earlier this year called "i got work." it was one of my favorites, if not my favorite video of the year. he's been uploading a new section from it to swbmx.com each week. check it out!

i'll have some big news dropping in the next few days... get ready!

    dew tour is over!!

yep........ the dew tour is officially over for 2007. here are my thoughts:

    vert.
jamie bestwick is the best. hands down. watching him ride a vert ramp is one of the greatest things i've ever seen in all of BMX. he airs so high and so smooth. i was also really impressed with the fact that simon tabron does 540 no hander to barspins and the fact that steve mccann has progressed so much in vert riding. minus kagy's temporary absense, it was a good year for vert.

    dirt.
dirt was ridiculous. everything was soooooo close. my pick going into the tour was cam white; he's been riding super good lately and i'm somewhat bias because he lives about 10 minutes from me for half of the year. bringing out the flip barspin to whip was awesome, i'm really stoked that he got that done. i was very impressed with how good dennis enarson did. i expected him to do really good in park, but was impressed with his really high finishes in dirt. i'm glad nyquist finally got the overall win in dirt, he deserved it. it's been a little while coming and he's been riding better than ever. not bad for a married guy.

    park.
daniel dhers is the man. no one can touch him. he rides the whole course and does the most tricks every contest. spinner rode really good, but was a bit more conservative than most. in practice at every contest i thought Mirra was going to win, but it never worked out for him in the finals. anyways, it's nice to see daniel's bank account getting larger. we're going to the strip club soon in his new bentley. it's going to be awesome.

    overall:
a decent year for the dew tour, but i'm not too bummed it's over.

    that's all.

    josh betley's house.

i'm at josh betley's house in phoenix. we've been playing mario kart 64 and eating top ramen mixed with peanuts and hot sauce. it's been a good night. his cat got beat up by a bigger cat today. this house is dialed.

    keep schick's money in bmx!

    http://www.showschickyourtrick.com/

schick has this contest going on that a lot of you have probably heard about; basically bmxers and skaters from the west coast and the east coast submitted videos, nyquist and burnquist picked the best ones, and someone gets eliminated each week, until only one remains and wins $20,000.  let's get that $20,000 in a bmxers pocket!

there's a lot more money in skateboarding than there is in bmx and this is a really good opportunity for a bmx rider. regardless of who you vote for, you should sign up and vote for one of the bmx guys.

my personal pick is josh perry. josh is an awesome kid and an amazing rider; check out his clips on there. halfcab tailwhips are awesome. anyways, check it out, and i think you can vote 3 times a day. get on it!

also, i'm pretty sure josh can't grow a beard so it would be pretty funny if he rode for schick.

    tempe, az fixed gear race.

i've been staying with my friends kc badger and sam buros in arizona for the past week and kc just told me about a fixed gear race they're putting on the weekend before halloween.

fixed gears have really been blowing up in bmx lately. volume is making one, fbm is making one, profile is making hubs, and it seems like 50% of bmx riders own one (or atleast some sort of road bike).

anyways, the race in Tempe is called the Dagger Death Race. Billy Franvesky is pretty much the guy in charge and he has an insanely creative mind. so far, the race includes sprinting across the street to the bar, pounding a beer, riding through a really long underground full pipe, stopping in a cemetery and taking a rubbing of a tombstone, throwing ninja stars, and a bunch of other wild stuff. it should be a pretty wild time. everyone should bring their fixed gear (or buy a fixed gear) and come out.

    new ipods.

If you haven't checked them out yet, Apple just introduced the new iPods today. I'm pretty sure I won't be getting one (until I get a new computer and they give me one for fre, atleast) because I'm already rocking the iPhone, but they're definitely a step up. the iPod touch pretty much seems just like an iPhone, minus the phone abilities. It can still pick up wireless networks though, pretty dang sweet.

check them out on apple.com if you haven't seen them yet. also, send me money so i can buy an HD camera. thanks.

    Anthem Skatepark = Closed??

Anthem Skatepark is the closest decent skatepark to my house in Henderson and it was recently (temporarily) closed. I'm on the road so much that the reality of the situation hasn't quite set in until now, when i get to spend a week or so at home.

Anthem has always been a strange spot, everyone once in a while cops would come and kick bikes and kids without helmets out, but it was pretty much one out of every twenty five times we rode there. Now there's a security guard there and thousands of rumors about what's going on.

Basically, I guess they're supposed to be building a new fence around the park and, what i keep hearing from all of the dudes that are a lot more local at the park than i am, they are going to allow bikes every other day and are going to have a city employee there inforcing rules.

I'm really not too stoked on the fact that it's closed, but as long as it opens back up soon and is bike friendly atleast half of the time I guess we don't have too much to complain about.

    arby's action sports awards

i just watched a bit of the arby's action sports awards on Fuel.  i think its pretty ridiculous that they had rob dyrdek, who was in charge of the creation of an entire "skate plaza" that doesn't allow bikes, present the award for bmx rider of the year.  guettler should have given him a figure four leg lock instead of a handshake.
