    Dew Tour Picks

The first Dew Tour of the year is going down next week in Chicago. I know my plane ticket is booked and I look forward to seeing a lot of you there. There are a few guys I think are going to make big impacts there, and here is why.

    Dirt:

    1. TJ Ellis. TJ has been on a roll this year with a big win at Fise and then at Warriors of Wood. He's more dialed than ever, completely healthy, and ready to win some of these big events. He's going to do big things this year.

    2. Cam White. Cam definitely doesn't want to lose his title from last year and has been putting in the time on his bike he needs to stay on top of the game. Cam has been back out in Las Vegas for a few months now and has been riding TJ Lavin's yard once or twice every day. He's ready for another big year.

    3. Rob Darden. Rob won the Extreme Thing dirt contest earlier this year and then went on to win Extreme Playgrounds in Germany. Rob's combination of consistency and style will definitely make him one of the highest placing dudes on the course this year.

    Park:

    1. Daniel Dhers. Daniel has been off to a bit of a rough start this year, but come on. We all know what he's capable of and we all know how much he loves to win. Daniel's combination of tricks and his ability to ride the entire course make him damn near unstoppable. Also, he's been putting in time at Woodward, so you know he's going to have a couple of fresh new moves.

    2. Josh Perry. Josh has been around for a couple of years now, but it seems like everything is finally starting to fall into place for him. He moved to Greenville, is getting support from a couple of good companies, and has been riding better and harder than ever. He turned a lot of heads this year by totally shutting down the JoMoPro contest. If he can bring that same consistency and that 360 barspin to barspin to tailwhip to the Dew Tour, he's definitely capable of taking home a big win.

    3. Mike Spinner. You can never count out Spinner. He's been fairly silent in the off season, which most likely means dialing in some new tricks. He's got a few moves that nobody else is messing with, and has been working on getting flairs dialed in. Quad whip right into a big flair? That'd be wild.

    Vert:

    1. Jamie Bestwick. Jamie Bestwick is the best vert rider of all time. That's all there is to it.

    2. Chad Kagy. I think it's safe to say that Chad will do whatever it takes to snag as many wins as possible from Jamie this year. Also, being a Woodward local, you never know what new stuff he's going to bust out.

    3. Simon Tabron. Simon is never one to count out. He's got a new bike this year (WeThePeople), a new place to call home (SoCal), and the most consistent 900's in the game. Are we going to see a whole new Simon? We'll see.

    Street:

Garrett Reynolds/Dannis Enarson/JJ Palmere. There are only three teams to choose from, and I think this is the easy pick. You've all seen Writing on the Wall. It's no secret that Dennis and Garrett are two of the wildest dudes in BMX. Also, Garrett has a history of winning damn near every X-Games street contest that's ever existed. We haven't seen much of JJ in a while due to his injury, but he's also capable of some crazy stuff on street that nobody else is messing with. This team has got it.

Those are my picks. Am I a credibly source for anything? Probably not. Either way, I'll see you in Chicago!

    Winter Break!

My winter break away from school officially ends up about one hour. The past three and a half weeks have been packed full of adventures and good times and were probably three of the funnest weeks of my life. Here are a bunch of really bad low quality photos courtesy of my iPhone from along the way. I spent time at home in Las Vegas, in England (Manchester, Liverpool, and London), New York City, and San Francisco and a few other towns in between and experienced everything from gay karaoke bars to bailing people out of jail. Enjoy the photos:

    Sam Adams' EuroTrip Photos

My good friend and BMX photographer Sam Adams recently took a trip across Europe for a month and a half or so. I did a similar trip last summer and it was probably the best time of my life. Sam, unlike me, brought some photo gear with him and shot a bunch of awesome photos. He's been posting some of them on his blog and it's definitely worth checking out. Here's the link:

    iPhone 3g

I just picked up one of the new iPhones after a 2.5 hour wait. It seems pretty sweet so far!

    Nike Migration

I had the opportunity to spend last week at Nike headquarters just outside of Portland, Oregon and get an inside look at the Nike 6.0 brand and all of the Nike facilities as part of the annual Nike Migration conference.

It was a pretty awesome experience. The Nike campus is like nothing I've ever seen before. They have numerous giant buildings that circle between a giant soccer field, and even a skatepark.

We also got to see everything that went into shoe design; it's pretty crazy. So much science and technology is used by Nike to make the shoes as helpful as possible.

Overall it was a great experience. If you ever get the opportunity to check out Nike headquarters I highly suggest you do it.

    Video Camera Problems

I ran into some problems with my beloved Panasonic HVX200 the other day. The camera is only about six months old and two buttons randomly quit working the other day. I wasn't stoked.

I did all of the research I could and decided it wasn't something I could deal with myself; I had to send it off to Panasonic.

I shipped it next day to Panasonic yesterday. Shipping alone was $130. Not cool! And, to top it off, they won't even get it until (hopefully) Monday because of the weekend.

I'm not sure how long I'll be without a video camera, but I know I'm not too stoked on life right now. Wish my camera a speedy recovery! Hopefully we'll be back to work soon.

    Reno.

I'm off to Reno in a few hours to hang out with my friend Barnyard Johnny. Barnyard Johnny recently turned 21 while I was on a Levi's trip so I had to miss out on the party. We're going to make up for it in the next few days! WOOOOOOO SPRING BREAK!!!!!

    BUSY!

The last few weeks have been pretty hectic. I went to St. Louis with Zack Warden and Ronnie Napolitan for a week on a Levi's trip, came home to take finals for three days, and had to leave the next day to SoCal for another Levi's trip, this time with Anthony and Ronnie Napolitan.

Both trips were awesome, but I'm pretty beat! I think I'm hanging out in Vegas a few days and then heading off to Greenville.

I stopped by the Vital office the other day and talked some business; things are looking awesome. I think everyone will be really stoked on things to come on the site. Stay tuned!

    UPS

I should have everything in the mail to build up my new bike today. I've been tracking my package on UPS.com and it's in Lss Vegas and has been out to delivery since 6:00am. I've sat around all day waiting for my stuff so I could get my new bike built and now it's 3:15pm and still have nothing. Wasted day!!! Hopefully it still shows up.

    This Past Weekend....

It's Sunday night and the weekend is officially coming to an end. I consider this weekend to have been pretty successful; here are a few details.

Friday my friend Cody and I went and saw the Glow In The Dark Tour. That tour featured N.E.R.D., Lupe Fiasco, and was headlined by Kanye West. I've always been really into Kanye and Lupe and was really stoked to see both of them! Pharrell is friends with TJ Lavin so he gave a shout out to BMX and had Lavin on stage with him for a song, which was awesome. Lupe was super on point and had all of the exact backing vocalists from his albums and Kanye's set was more of a show than a concert. He crashed his space ship and had to fix it and blah blah blah high budget blah blah blah it was awesome. Definitely a proper way to start a weekend!

Saturday I got some work done in the day then ate a proper dinner with my woman and then we saw the new Harold and Kumar movie, which was pretty hilarious in an anti-American sort of way.

Sunday I got a bit more work done and then my woman and I took my dog to the park for a walk. It was awesome, he tried to fight a few dogs that were twice his size and would have totally torn him apart. He's a badass. Then we went to Cold Stone and ate ice cream and I remembered why I'm eight times the size of the average man. And, now, I'm here writing this.

This was a pretty BMX-less weekend for a BMX blog, right? Sorry. I think I'm building my new bike up Wednesday, so I'll make up for it then!

    Anthropology.

I'm sitting in my Anthropology class and bored out of my mind, so I'm writing this blog.

This past weekend has been a crazy one.

Last Saturday was the Extreme Thing Dirt Contest, which was pretty wild. The contest was almost canceled because of crazy winds, but it calmed down just enough to start the contest after a few hour delay. Dennis Enarson ended up taking the win. The craziest part about this is that Dennis Enarson flew in from Australia less than a day before the contest and still managed to beat dudes like Cam White, Anthony Napolitan, James Foster, etc. After the contest, my girlfriend and I joined the Enarson family for dinner. I've traveled a bit with Kenny, Dennis' dad and he's one of the raddest guys I've ever met.

The next day Anthony Napolitan and I met up bright and early with plans to head to Barstow, California to check out Gordie Toth's backyard, but 40mph wins had other plans. We tried to ride in Vegas and ended up almost getting blown away.

The wind calmed down a bit, so yesterday (Monday) we drove down to Barstow for the day. Gordie's house is amazing; pretty wild cemented six-pack, wild dirt bowls, crazy satanist stuff everywhere... definitely a one of a kind place. Anthony hurt his back in a wrestling accident so he didn't ride much, but Gordie and I shot some photos and video. It was a pretty productive trip and we made it back in time for dinner in Vegas.

Then I went to sleep, woke up, and went to school. Now I want to go home.

Also, I'm sitting next to my friend The Largest Man On The Planet and he's talking about prostitutes. It's pretty awesome.

That's all for now. Time to learn.

    DK Team....

I got to spend the past few days with some of the DK/System Cycle team while they were passing through Las Vegas on their way to California to ride some shows for Maxxis. Catfish, Monkey, Brian Hunt, Tony Watkinson, and Ronnie Napolitan came out, rode bikes, and chilled. It was a good time. We filmed quite a few clips; be on the look out for a video soon!

    BMX/Super Bowl?

What does BMX have to do with the Super Bowl?

Lonie Paxton, #66 on the Patriots, has some of the sweetest trails in BMX at his house. Lonie is good friends with Heath Pinter and let Heath, Bohan, and the rest of the Corona, CA boys build jumps at his house. I'm sure you've seen them somewhere.

Long story short; BMXers better be rooting for the Patriots.

    Mark Losey.

I don't think Mark Losey updates his blog enough. Wouldn't you agree?

    Back to school......

I took last semester off of school to pretty much just live the BMX life, but that has officially come to an end. At 10:00am today, I will once again officially be a full time student at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Life isn't going to be as fun, but progression is always necessary. Holler at me, Vegas kids; I'm going to be spending quite a bit more time at home!
