I have been working real hard with my band lately and spent 3 days in the studio recording our debut ep. it will be a 4 song ep and should be out sometime in July, I just have to go back to finish up vocals. for more info on the band and our progress, visit

in other news, I went to rye airfield skatepark Sunday to hang out with some friends coming through on the local exposure tour. I got a chance to hang out with Micah, Quinn, Anthony, and some other friends I hadn't seen in a while. I hadn't been riding much in the last week so I started riding with some friends and had a blast. I inadvertently qualified 5th or something for the local exposure finals, which I hadn't "entered". so when finals came around I just tried learning stuff I never tried before, goofed off, did one footers, and danced with Micah to Nelly. if nothing else, I hope I helped some kids realize bmx isn't about sponsors, or about breaking yourself day in and day out, its about having fun and meeting awesome new people. it was an awesome weekend and I'm psyched everyone had a blast.

News and Photos from Mike Hinkens

Life is more hectic and stressful than ever. I have been teaching full time and riding as much as possible, along with two other jobs, school, and life. As you can see from these photos, I get to spend most of my day being an adult and then i get to come home and play. Spots have been kinda slim as of late and we have been getting both bored and creative...hence the wallride from flat over an orange cone and a box. I have finished filming a strange little web edit with Grant which is in the process of being edited. As i keep saying, stay tuned. Other than that, thank god summer is almost here. I am excited to showcase Milwaukee to the Madera team this July so expect footage and pics from that. Hope you enjoy the pics. Dave McDermott News
Dave McDermott is currently in Colombia with Dr. Luis Pinzon, Conall Keenan, Circuit BMX's Vic Bettencourt, Jon Wilson, Chad Moore, Sean Albright, and a few more people whose names escape me at the moment. Shredding will definitely occur, and we'll let you know the details as they emerge. Conall should be filming, and Jon and Chad will be shooting, so I'm sure it will look good.

New Madera Flow Rider: Bryce Toole

During our trip to Missouri a couple weeks ago, we got to hang out with Bryce Toole all weekend. Bryce showed up to JOMO on a whim -- having little change of clothes (a leather jacket, cowboy boots, and a wild suede cowboy hat), he partied, made everyone laugh, and somehow shredded in his unconventional attire. We actually sat down and had a legit discussion on the advantages to riding in cowboy boots.

A couple months ago, through McDermott's recommendation, we hooked Bryce up with a front hub (with talks of hooking him up a little more later on). In Missouri, we started to chat about stuff again. And after the weekend, he cleared things with Johnny to make sure it didn't conflict with Sputnic, and parts were on their way.

Bryce is just an all around good dude: amazing rider, super cool to everyone, and someone that can always have a good time regardless of the situation. We're stoked to be able to hook him up!

REPORTS FROM THE FIELD!

MCDERMOTT AND SOME COPS!!!

Today I decided to finally wake up early and ride the Oviedo skate park that is 10 mintutes away from my house. It is a Team Pain-built park so they do not allow bikes. As most of the parks we aren't allowed into, it was amazing. One of the best parks that i have ever ridden.
I was spotted by some of the parks and recreation workers, but i didn't care. Most people i know have tried to ride there and have not been able to get away with it, so I was prepared to deal with police. After about 45 minutes, i had to relieve myself pretty bad. Cigarettes and Monsters are a deadly combination. Needless to say it was an emergency. So i hopped the fence and ran into the woods. As I walked out 2 police rolled up and asked if i had been riding in the park. Naturally I lied and said i had simply rode around it to take a better look. Then when the park employees identified me. I was thrown up against the cop car and frisked. They searched my car and threatened me with felony burglary and trespassing. After a little smooth talk and explaining that Tim Payne had received multiple swirly's by BMX riders when he was in high school and that is why we have no place to go, they set me free.

HINKENS AND SOME COMPLAINING!
Will spring and summer ever get here? I think not. Its still bouncing between snowy/rainy conditions and sun and warmth. This state is starting to bum me out.
As for news, not too much in the midwest. Street riding season is upon us and with some sad news as well. Undercover skatepark in Appleton Wi will be closing its doors officially any day now. Thanks to Mark for all of the good times and the boost in that mid-Wisconsin scene. On a lighter note, word has it that 4 Seasons skatepark will be opening another outdoor addition to their Milwaukee park. Stay tuned for more news on that as it develops.
Finally, Grant Castelluzzo is presently helping me film a web edit so look for an early spring edit popping up soon.
