    SCORPIONS!

We've had 4 scorpions in the house in the last 3 days! Sneaky turds are coming in through the bathtub drains. This is my 9th AZ summer and the first time I've seen scorpions in AZ. I've seen them in 29 Palms, CA and Iraq but never in AZ and they are supposed to be here. Shocked

    Hot and Muggy!

It's a typical AZ summer. It got up to 112° by mid-June. It's been humid for two weeks but where's the rain? Good thing about humidity is it keeps the temp down at night which allows for cooler ridin weather in the AM.

    Tony Cardona signed our frames!

The Empire team was in town this last weekend and they came to visit Kore Bikes. My wife and I got to meet Tony Cardona, Chase Hawk, Aaron Ross, and Sean Sexton. Our seven-year old was swapping stories with Chase while Tony fixed a couple flats he acquired while riding the thorny AZ terrain. My wife and I chatted a little with Tony while he was replacing his tubes. They are a great crew, down with just hanging out and talking for a bit. I know he's not with FBM anymore but he was cool with signing my purple haze Joint and my wife's green Joint! It was cool to meet all of you and thanks again, Tony, for the signatures!

    New Hubs!

Just built up my wheelset around the new white Profile hubs. I'm rolling a 36 hole mini 3/8" ti bolts on the front and a 36 hole mini 14mm hollow ti with a 9t ti driver on the rear. They are super light and really pull out the Purple Haze!

Swapped parts and new wheels in the works

Swapped my forks, bars, pedals, seat and post, and front wheel. I removed my white 990 Pitchforks (they're heavy) and added black Odyssey race forks which means I also had to change to a 3/8 front hub. The hub is Profile anodized purple with ti bolts and the wheel is a black sun with black spokes and purple anodized nips. The white Animal Piff bars have been replaced by black S&M Medium Bars. My white Primo Stricker magnesium unsealed pedals have been replaced with black Wellgo sealed pedals. They are a bit heavier but feel way better and I can move my feet again! And I replaced my purple anodized Animal pivotal post with a black Thomson post and my white Animal seat is replaced with the black Profile seat. It's more comfy than the Animal seat.

I did it to lighten up the bike a bit and see what black would look like. I don't like the black on the purple haze as much. It tones the frame down and almost hides the color. The white parts are flashy and brings out the frame colort. My front end is WAY lighter than the back so I have to really throw the front back down when I hit the hips at the park.

I need to evenly distribute the weight so I plan on building new wheels with white profile hubs. They are being released in February. I'll keep the Sun Rhynolite up front with ti spokes and ti on the axle. I haven't decided on 3/8 or 14mm, yet. On the rear I'll go with the Primo 7000 series rim (my Sun City Lite keeps flexing when I do tire taps), profile hub with ti 9t driver, ti hollow 14mm axle, ti bolts, and ti spokes. I think I'm gonna add Berringer Bars and powder coat them white. The forks will determine whether I go with 3/8 hubs or 14mm. I will get white Pitch XLT or maybe something lighter similar to the Odyssey Race or Director fork.

    It's gone

Sold the S3 and bought a Fly Pantera with some other goodies. Lots of Ti! Medium bars, Fly stem, Sun rims, grape Profile hubs and cranks with Ti everything, and Wellgo sealed pedals. It's a pretty sick set-up and super light.

    It's Finished!!!

After 3 months of anticipation and sleepless nights my FBM Joint is finished! Ryan, John aka Spongebob, and Joe stayed at the shop past 9pm to get my ride ready. It's one sick roller and weighs about 5 pounds less than my Hoffman Rythm. It is super smooth and fun as all heck. Thanks for staying late guys!

    New bike on the way!

My Fit S3 is now going to the wife! I couldn't find a color I liked at the powder coat shop. I was in Kore Bikes in Tempe the other day and they just got a new FBM Joint frame in purple haze. I loved the deep purple color and it goes with all my other parts so I picked it up. I'm just waiting on wheels, brakes, seat, and post and it'll be ready to throw down at Chandler!

Watch where the heck yer going!!

Some teenage kid dropped in on me at Chandler. He did a faceplant on the side of my head and left his teeth marks in my cheek while cutting my ear in the process! I now have a really sore jaw, a cool looking teeth scar, and a sore ear bone. It would've been rad to have on video! Needless to say, ya gotta watch before ya drop!

    Let us in!

The valley is back down to one legal park to ride, Reed Wheels Court in Mesa. Goodyear closed its gates to bmx riders on Monday, March 26, 2007. Thanks to a few whiney skaters and some news articles by misinformed reporters the closed-minded city council decided to post guards at the gates who will call the police and have you arrested. That's right. Arrested. No tickets, no warnings, you're going to jail for riding a skatepark. How asinine is that?! And if you're caught riding anywhere in the neighborhood, police are ticketing bmx riders. I spoke with a local rider who was ticketed at the nearby Safeway when he went to the store for a drink. He came out of the store and there was a police officer writing him a ticket. Go Goodyear! Way to spend the taxpayer's money! I'm glad I don't live there!
