The Off the Hizzy fo’ Shizzy jam went down at Skate City in Las Vegas, NV on March 3, 2007. A bunch of riders from all over the Southwest came out to do some bicycle stunts and try to win some money.
A few riders really stood out. Skate City is Ryan Mills' local park so he had some of the most creative lines and managed to pull a 540 out of the curved wallride, even with his back wheel rubbing on both sides of his frame. SoCal's Alfredo Mancuso had all the contest tricks on lockdown and was doing double-whips, 360-whips, and flairs all over the place all day. Johnny Steven's from Prescott, AZ was super-dialed all day and did the cleanest brakeless double-whips that have probably ever been done. Dakota Roche made the trip out with a bunch of the Fit dudes from SoCal and did a ton of huge 180's and 360 to fakies and proved that he's more than just a street dog.
James Foster ended up placing 3rd in the contest. James won the last contest at Skate City and had even more lines this year. James had a bunch of 360 and flip tricks over the box jump and huge downside-whips and flairs on the quarterpipes.
Second place went to Seattle's "Def Paul" Bonner. Def Paul rides without a chain and has been for years, but he still rides faster than anyone else at the park. He had some of the craziest lines to fakie and seemed to pull everything he tried. Watch out for this dude....
Steve Woodward from San Diego took home the first place title and $800. Nobody else on the planet can ride like Steve... He doesn't take anything seriously and somehow still manages to do the craziest tricks all in a row. Steve's highlights included the biggest pegless over-icepick-to-back-over ever done on a bicycle and a huge 360 and tailwhip off of a deck into a steep quarterpipe.
In the end, a bunch of good riding went down, everyone had a good time, and no one was seriously hurt. You can't really ask for much more out of a bike contest.
