i would advise u stay away from 16 inch tube just get 20in ultralites, cutting down you axels can help a bit if u have 14mm's with heaps of excess, smaller gearing if u can afford it or your bike can accept it, i like my bars long so yer none of that cutting!, single bolt slimeline seatclamp light and inexpensive, unnesacery washers like if u have 2 on one side ur axel take on off, run one chan tensioner, have you chain as short as possible and u may not need a chain tensioner which saves even more weight n theres a heap of stuff for cheap u can upgrade to make ur bike lighter if its stock

titanium parts but they are expencive and hard to get now. if you are getting something new check if it is light. small gearing (already been said). 36 hole rims 3 cross not 4(shorter spokes). stock kmc chain there light, cut axles, cut the end of your brake arms, chop seatpost. cut your brake cables as short as possible without not being able to spin the bars if you have single cable.

if u really want to lighten ur bike ...depending on how hard u ride in the front wheel u really dont need 14mm axles 3/8 are strong enough a bit cheaper to replace if/when u bend em and also if ur not a 3 piece crank addict a one piece is strong enough and a lotlighter if u combine these wifsum ov the tips above ur gonna have 1 light bike..Sick

Riding a one peice crank is a horrible idea. unless you want bent cranks, then thatd be the best way to go.

buy lighter parts. don't drill holes in your shit and risk ruining your parts like these dumb asses are telling you. just save your money and buy lighter parts. and if you find the right geometry on your bike you will have a lot more control. lighter weight is just an added bonus

Don't do shit...just keep riding a heavier bike while you save up around 1000 dollars. Keep riding and working on you hops and manuals or what ever, mean while look at what parts that are out there and continue to save money. Don't get lazy just stick to it. Next summer you will be so strong and you will have money to build a killer bike. Once you get it it will feel like you're riding on the moon. You will be so stoked!

then get a wedge out of a old stem cut ur seat post on a angle and put the wedge bit u need a longer seat bolt.and cut ur seattube down flush to the frame then put the wedged seat and post it saves so much wieght pluss it looks so gud
