2 Mid School builds. A build and a re-rebuild to new school spec.

6/6/2014 10:34 PM

If you havent checked out my bike checks, you could tell I'm a mid school type. Even my new school bike looks as mid school as possible. What you might not know is that Schwinn is my favorite brand. Well, at least the NON Walmart pre-2002 era.

So, I have 2 other bikes, one I just got yesterday and another I've had a while, and redid it. Now I'm redoing it again.

Bike 1:2000 Schwinn Super Stock 2

Got it stock:

Changed nearly every part, even the decals lol:

2000 Schwinn Super Stock 2 frame
Troy Lee SCHWINN decals
Eastern fork 1 1/8
NECO headset
XS stem
Odyssey Civillian Camo bars
Bonedeth grips
ProMax MX3.0L lever (not factory)
ProMax V brake (factory)
SINZ pink brake cable
Kink lightest bar ends
UGP seat
XS seatpost
The Schadow Conspiracy clamp
XS 3pc 180MM crank (the 'better' version)
Poverty IN BMX WE TRUST sprocket 44t
Odyssey Twisted Aloha pedals
KMC blue chain
Stock wheelset 36H
Kenda Kontact 1.95 orangewall

So I kinda decided to completely redo the bike again, using more new school parts including 25/9 gearing.

First, it needs a new paintjob:

It's going to be matched to my car with the leftover paint:

And new decals (red ones)

I will be keeping some of the small parts from the rebuild: Seat, clamp, fork, headset, bar ends, grips, pedals. Will be adding Gyro left over from Failure Mainiac build.

What has been bought for it so far:

Mission transit crank purple

Sunday acid drop bars

Last Failure stem on Danscomp:

I just have to decide on a 25t sprocket, and decide how I'm doing the wheels. I was thinking Profile Mini 3/8 custom wheels on the high side, or buying some Mongoose just for the 9t 3/8 wheels on the low side. Havent decided. Just spent over a grand building my Failure Maniac, and dont need this rebuild to get up there too.

Bike 2, a 1998 Schwinn Pro Stock 3. This is a recall bike, meaning it should have been sent back to the factory to be destroyed due to a manufacturing error that causes these to break at the head tube. Great another bike I cant ride, but must have. I always liked the way it looked, so when one came up for sale, I bought it ASAP.

Now the best part about this build, is that I could use most of the stock pieces from the 2000 Super Stock 2. It came yesterday, and I got it 90% done today:

Look at that CLEAN GLEAM. Ah I love these Schwinns:

The pedals sprocket and seat are hold-overs, I just wanted to see the bike "complete". I have a better seat coming, a Profile Ripsaw 2, and the stock Super Stock pedals that I painted red.

This

And these to finish it out:

I will update this as I get the last parts on the Pro Stock, and as I build up the Super Stock.

Thanks. Also the car is a Prelude, not an Accord. Rather mistaken for an Accord than a Civic! LOL.

I added a few bikes today. Another Schwinn frame, an old GT that fell in my lap checking out a second-hand store, and a Fit to ride.. And got my cranks in.

The Orange bike is almost done. Just need the Profile sprocket, it came today but was the wrong size 46t.

Got my other bike back. Cant figure these water transfer decals. Its infuriating me. The previous decal change on this bike were normal peel and stick decals, these arent, never worked with them, and they piss me off greatly.

I'm thinking about getting clear grips, and maybe green Odyssey pedals.

I think I have wheels figured out, in order to get a 3/8 9t, I can buy any Mongoose Mode 180 from CL, and lace them to Demolitions. Good solid wheels.

Noooooo greeeeeen peeeedalllllsss. Please. It'd be sick with more purple honestly. Clear purple animal bpe pc pedals or the daily grind ones. Just a pleading suggestion.

^ We'll see. They'll probably be one of the last things I get as well as grips.

Orange bike done:

Did custom decals:

Also got my 9t 3/8 wheel.

Odyssey Aaron Ross Grips

Tektro V-Brake & Lever Kit

Alienation Graffiti Folding Tire

Bully Sprocket

Mission Impulse PC Pedals

KMC Z410/Z30 Chain

I have my back wheel with a 3/8 axle on a 9t driver. Just need any front hub, and a set of rims to lace them to. Also need a larger Gyro bearing unit

The bikes are cool. I want to see more of the prelude, I'm a Honda guy.
