Not always, I've called and gotten guys before who I talked to about bikes for quite a while. Ususally it's just some dude who works in their customer service department who has no idea what's going on in BMX.

When I call Empire, a bike rider answers the phone.

When I call Dan's, a random person they hired to answer phones answers the phone.

I know which companies I'm more likely to support. It bums me out that so many people don't give a shit about supporting BMX by buying from BMX, not buying from Dan's Corp.

I don't shop at Wal-Mart, ever. I haven't for years.

And, no, Aaron Ross isn't my hero. I just bought the bars. She knew nothing about BMX, the Aaron Ross thing wasn't the only thing I was caught up on.

Dan's has also done some pretty shady things in the past, like that whole fiasco when they were making fake T-1 shirts.

And bloghogs, I'd expect them to be four times the size. It's a giant corporation.

Dan's Comp is a corporation. The same corporation that owns CCS, which I guarantee generates WAY more cash flow than Dan's does. They don't give a shit about BMX. They tried to gain some credibility back with the whole "Dan's 360" movement, but all it proved was that they've got the cash to hire an impressive roster of riders, much in the same way Levi's and Nike did.

I have been ordering things from dan's since the 90's.I have never had a problem.If I needed to ask a question,the person on the phone answered it or transfered me to someone that could.
I just dont get why this site is so against them.

I'd rather order from Empire or Albe's, that's all. Dan's Comp is just too... not BMX for me. I don't want to be transferred to someone who can answer my question after having to go through an automated system. I have to deal with that shit when I call my credit card companies, I don't want to deal with it when I'm ordering bike parts.

And people always say "Well, I order from Dan's because it's cheaper because I got a coupon code". Empire and Albe's will match whatever offer Dan's has out. Tom just saved me almost $40 on my cranks and BB, and gave me free shipping. And, when I e-mailed Empire, Tom answered. It wasn't "Customer Service Associate 1643125" like at Dan's.

Dans Comp is way to main stream for me..... i order from whoever has the best deals or shit i want.

No problem there dude, I hear you, like i said not defending dans, just understand that everyones not into the "scene", i.e. knowing the relevantly popular pros or knowing who did the latest circus trick. I love riding my bike but I just seen some dude on fuel TV do a double decade and i couldn't tell you his name or what comp at what park he did it at.

To some people its just a job, even to peeps inside the industry. BMX and skating have been around for far to long not to be mainstream and corp to some extent.

Arguments over companies are stupid. I have an Empire Sticker on every one of my vehicles I drive. But in all honesty I order from Dan's most of the time because they have a wider selection and the user interface is easier. Rider owned is a sweet idea. It really is. But you can't limit a work force to just those who ride. Other people, like receptionists, need a workplace, and most of the time are hired for their skills in what the job entails.

Edit: So in all, even if you aren't buying from rider owned companies, you're still giving a job to a young (or old) woman trying to make it by in the world.

My LBS while not huge into BMX(mostly road and fixie) is a legit ass shop so the small selection they have is very good, G-SPORT and what not, they were big into bmx in the 80,s and 90,s with 20 or so large ABA trophies. They also price stuff at Danscomp prices or better, most stuff being $5 less. I buy my stuff there if I can.(except ODI's $17 )

If I can't or if they dont have the color I want, I shop at Dans, why? Because i always have, Because Iv'e never had a problem with them, Because they been around forever. Does it seem corporate now? ya it kinda does, but some companies are succsesful and grow. Sure didn't seem to corp when my dad was ordering stuff for me from them 15 or so years ago.

Like I said, I'm done ranting. I think Dan's Comp is a joke, but not everyone else does. My money is all going to Albe's or Empire, unless Dan's has something Albe's/Empire can't get and I desperately need it.
