Hi-tensile steel frame bad?

6/7/2010 8:47 PM

are hi tensile steel frames bad? cause thats all that comes on the cheaper completes would it be worth it to get one?

Yes they are bad. It is not worth purchasing one, find a full chromoly frame. It will last longer and feel more solid.

FTW!

its a huge rip off and a way for company's to make money

i feel that any bmx company that makes hi ten frame for completes is money hungry

not really.....the only company i know whos hi tensile frames snap even if u dont ride hard is eastern....i have prrooof.....still like eastern though....there good high end components are good
other companies hi tensile completes are stll good like fit and fbm and kink i think

INVALID

hi tensile steel is a weaker material than chromoly, hi ten has 1020 tensile strength, as opposed to 4130 for chromo

Full chromoly!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi tensile is generally lighter but less strong, my frame isnt full chromo but it doesnt matter too much cos im not intending to drop 10 foot to flat any time soon. i give mine a lot of abuse and its fine, it dents quite easily though
