yo im 16 and i've been riding for 6 years in both ABA which is racing if u dont know and also freestyle bmx. since your a beginer just use your normal everyday clothes just make sure your pant legs dont get stuck in the chain while your riding ... INDO'S to the max hurt your face lol but if you get good and you like to bmx and u have the extra cash go to dan's comp.com and check out the fly racing gear its pretty bad ass its got everything you can want and if you dont got a bike try out a haro for now..

it depends if you are raceing , trails, flatland, park, or street -
there isnt to much of diffrence inbetween frames now a days,(exempt flatland frames) just the parts that go along with the complete bikes...........

remeber this, you will get what you pay for............
but i ve been shown otherwise before in diffrent countries watching guys bust out on wal mart bikes!

just go to your local bike shop, and talk to them, they will know. if you are uneasy about buying , then dont, talk is free still right?

you will find something eventually that you like, and that feels comfortable to you, but please, please dont buy a bike thats not comfortable, indorsements, etc etc. its just asking for something to go from bad to worse real quick!

good luck in your desision, and glad you are here

take care!

like diamondbacker said check out danscomp. just get a fairly cheap 20 or 22 inch bike. I don't have anything right now cause i moved to arkansas so I have to save and try to get something. A lot of people like heavier bikes but most of the bikes I used were no more than 15 pounz. If you race in the ABA or something in normal pants, roll up your pantleg on the sproket side. I don't care how cool people say it is, use a helmet cause Indos hurt. I took one off a fun box when I was about 9 that tore most of my face's top layers of skin off. The only other thing you will probably need is gloves. Check out stuff from fox, they make the best gloves ive used, and don't let them be to loose. If youre doin crazy stuff use racing pants just in case cuz you don't want a 20 foot high staircase infront of u an have your pants get caught in the chain. My friend got his pants caught trying to jump off this rock in Idaho (on a bike he got for free) and it was like a 30 foot drop to the water. I was a bit higher up filming him and his pants got caught and he tried to stop because it slowed him down so much and when he went off he went forks first into this ledge about 5 feet down and then fell off that and landed to close in on some rocks and his bike hit him in the back of hi head. Me and my firend jumped in and got him out but he canteven use his left arm still.(it was about 3 years ago). Also make sure your bikes working. If your cranks are slippin, dont do crazy stuff, just do what you have to till you can fix it.
