Stop supporting nike

6/25/2014 8:20 AM

Please stop supporting nike as it is killing the skate scene and will soon move on to the bmx scene. Small companies just starting up and crushed and killed by corporations that monopolize the sports and give nothing back. Imagine this, you just started a shoe company called WickedWedgie shoes, you spend countless hours perfecting your shoe. When you try to mass produce the show no one will want it because they can buy nike shoes who brainwashed the whole scene. Think about the smaller companies tryingto make it and give them a chance.

I see it. It is a monopoly, it's kinda bullshit, but their shoes work well. But so do my other ones. It's a wierd market and honestly, at the end of the day, they're just shoes. I also think the bmx market is going to be much harder to monopolize as it seems we already have been. Vans.

Well you have to buy shoes in a shop to support this whole article/rant. And those companies would monopolize if they had the chance.

6/25/2014 9:18 AM

I know this is sick dude and everything but yeah you guys gotta stop buying nikes I did when the canceled the 6.0 program but I saw kept SB, bmx pros rock the SB shirts which is sad.

If you guys are sketched out about buying bmx brand shoes because no one's personally given you a review on them then get over the fear and support. I was able to buy some lotek night wolfs and holy shit I'm not sucking loteks dick or anything but these are 2x's comfier than my old nikes and definitely any vans shoes I've worn no joke!

Capitalism- consumers will by the best cost efficient shoes. Nike isn't forcing people to buy their shoes. Small companies must innovate or die

6/25/2014 10:06 AM

I'm reporting this to Nike! Lol not really. But did anyone else notice 6.0 quality dropped drastically within like 6months of cutting the program? It's like they tried to make us hate it first or something

I'm on the vital legit list!

4 dollar janoskis? I'll take that all day!

6/25/2014 12:27 PM

Janoski's are the best shoes made, i dont buy my shoes to support anything other than my feet. I have had the other brands of shoes and Janoskis hold up the BEST out of any and my feet are comfortable and they grip pedals just right.

I love Nike. I spend 200$ on my Nike Flyknit Freeruns , and have countless other high end Nike sports shoes. And clothing !

Nike does alot for BMX , such as sending out pro riders on trips and taking the footage to turn into edits , they make competetions like Huntington Beach awhile back which was awesome. They sponsor alot of contests and even though 6.0 got removed Nike SB has been a big hit within the skating and bmx scene. I want to buy more SB clothes , because I support Nike. Yes they're a corporation , but they do alot of both SKATE and BMX.

It's like Redbull and Monster for me. I see Redbull do alot for BMX but Monster does nothing but street league.

Lets just hate on DC because they're fags.

$70+ for a pair of shoes that I am going to eventually ruin from riding? Haha, no thanks! I'll stick with $40-$50 Vans.

I can count how many shoe companies support BMX on my hands. Love 'em or hate 'em, Nike is one of the few who currently care about BMX in any way, shape, or form.

If we're going to rally together and stop supporting shoe companies, let's stop supporting all of the companies who don't support BMX at all.

Unrelated to the moral standing, I've been satisfied with the majority of Nike products I've owned. They put a ton of time into research, development, and design.

6/26/2014 10:07 PM

If they cared so much about bmx why did they drop 6.0's? Why did they LIE to get into the skate scene? Why did they have sweatshops? Why do they charge you so much for shoes that are literally designed to eventually fail and keep you coming back?
I rather skate and bike barefoot that support them

It's a redundant question man. Simple answer is money...Nike want's that green. They don't care about BMX at all they just need to get their grubby paws on all of the sports scenes they can to capitalize on their 'brand'.

Youre right, their shoes probably are designed to eventually fail. Thats called money though. Yeah, they can make you an ever lasting shoe, but then youll never buy another shoe from them again. Once everybody has gotten their ever-lasting shoe, not only Nike, but every other shoe company will go out of business. Who cares if theyre designed to fail? If theyre designed to fail a few months after every other company's shoe would fail, theyre still the better shoe, and youll be more likely to buy from them again.

They are a company after all, they are looking for money. Every other company is the same way to some extent.

I have loved every pair of my Nikes, theyre not my first choice of riding shoe, but if theyre on sale for cheaper than Vans or other shoes I like, you had better believe ill buy them. The skate-sole is grippy, most of their skater style shoes are pretty long lasting, and most are comfy too.

Life behind bars.

False.
Emerica g-codes are bomb proof. They *gasp* actually care about the community. Ever hear of servant shoe company? No you haven't. This is because big corporations use gimmicks to attract kids away from bomb proof sick beautiful lovely great shoes. I would rather look like pharrel than allow this to go on. Whatever though. I mean its not like the future of the sport is at stake. Im going to surfing where nike will not ventue

I will buy whatever shoes work for me, regardless of what brand some kid on the internet says to avoid. I get that Nike uses sweat shops, but how many of you have looked into where most of your items are made? Your iPhones are from China, from similar sweatshops. Most smartphones honestly are. If you drive a car, a lot of parts are made overseas in poor conditions and assembled here.

Bet your laptop was made somewhere with crap pay/conditions.

So if you USE ANYTHING that is made overseas, chances are good you are supporting a monopoly/sweatshop, and by only posting about ONE product, you are a hypocrite.

I am sick and tired of the "cliques" that this sport has recently developed. We should embrace the fact that we all ride a little kids bike, and not worry about the small details. When you take riding in its most basic form, we are all the same.
