Your Bicycle History and Influences

5/13/2010 6:44 PM

Hey Vital, thought of a good thread subject soooooo.....

1. How long has everyone been riding a bike for? (not necessarily bmx)
2. what age did you learn to first ride a bike? (w/o training wheels)
3. who are the biggest influences on your riding style?
4. who got you into bmx? (friends, family, x-games etc.)
5. how long have you been riding bmx for?

1. I have been on a bike pretty much my entire life. My dad is a manager at a bikeshop and loves bikes, his love for bikes pretty much rubbed off on me.
2. I learned how to ride a bike at age 3, I had it for 15-20 feet than i crashed into a fence
3. Probably Chase Hawk because I love boosting jumps and flowing
4. Once again my Dad. He used to ride bmx and was really good at it. that and it looks
(and is) sooo much fun.
5. I used to ride bmx when i was younger but my bike got stolen. Several years later (4 or so?) out of randomness decided that I wanna ride bmx again. It's been about 8 months or so and will never look back

2. ^^^
3. Van Homan, Chase Dehart, Micky Marshall
4. My ability to not skate got me into BMX, in 7th grade (11th grade now) the cool thing was to skateboard, but I had no skills at all on a board, I fucked up my wrist first time on a board, I said fuck skating and got a mongoose. After a couple of years everyone quit skating and I'm the only person still shredding, now everyone is starting to bike, makes me the godfather around here.
5. 4ish years

i have been riding for as long as i can remember
my first influence was my older bro he started building dirt jumps in the back yard and taught me how to hit a jump. i could hop and clear the jumps now but they seemed big when your 9years old, and my first pro influence was cory"nasty"nastazio he was god in my eyes
i learned how to ride a bike at like age 6 or so.
i got into the actual sport of bmx last year as in actually gettting into it i mean tryin tricks

my bro quit riding when he tore every ligiment in his knee. his knees cant take it anymore even with a brace. but yea

5. I have been doing tricks on bikes for about 11 years now.

I should be a lot better, but I just have fun. Now it is about longevity. I don't huck it too often so I can continue riding for years to come.

When you take riding in its most basic form, we are all the same.

2. About 4
3.Mike Miller, Stefan Lantschner, Luke Marchant, Cam Hardy all super smooth and stylish!
4. My mates got me going down the woods and the older kids all had bmxs and i had a shitty mountain bike so i decided to get a bmx for christmas one year.
5. Been riding about 3 years now

5/14/2010 9:13 AM

1. I've been riding since I was about 5-6.

2. I started training wheels at about 4 and took them off successfully about 5 probably.

3. I have the worst riding style due to an over obsession with filming ever since I first got into BMX, but for that reason probably Joe Simon because he kills it on a bike even though he films more than full time. A few other people I enjoy watching would be Randy Taylor, DAK, Van Homan, Jamie Bestwick, and of course Mike Aitken.

4. I'd say an old Vegas buddy Tom really got me into it as he was the first friend I made at the skatepark, but as far as who kept me in it I'd say Vegas locals Louie Eller, Chris Welch, Elliot Wesoff, Dan Quinn, Adam Wilson, and Adam Stokes (RIP).

5.I'd say I have been riding BMX for about 6 years. I suck at riding so I tell people 2 hahaha jk but seriously about 6-7.
