You shouldn't, but I've been doing it for... a year. Just get a gland.

Hub guards aren't a necessity. I've never rode them in my life and never broken a spoke or fucked up a hub. Just get good at grinding and you'll never need them.

They're really just a precautionary measure for heavy street riding.

Take a look at your spokes and see which is more scratched up or just buy both if you want.

I wouldn't grind without a hub guard. Broken spokes and flanges, no thanks.

For the back, I have the Rant V2 hub also, and I have the Mutiny hub guard. For the front, my friend has the Demolition Bulimia and I sold him my Shadow Rant front hub guard and it fit perfectly. Your Shadow hub guard should fit on you cassette, just take out the cones.

Mine didn't even come close to fitting, had to wedge my frame open a bit. It's an Eastern, it was pretty scary doing it ha. But I'm so glad I did, I don't even brake half as many spokes now.

Get the motherfucking Mutiny hub guard! It fits! Holy shit!

http://www.danscomp.com/512107.php?cat=PARTS

The front hub guard doesn't exist on Dan's anymore. Spend $29.99 instead of a three digit number!
