Building muscle

So im 6'2" and im going to start drinking protein shakes before i go to the skatepark. Which powder would be the best to gain muscle? Im 16 if that has anything to do with the answer. So which shake/powder mixes do you guys use and what do you blend with them. Im new to this whole thing.

You want to take protein after working out (for muscle recovery). Most pre-workout mixes are mainly for giving you energy.
The key to gaining weight is eating a lot, and actually lifting weights. If you are just eating a lot, eating protein, and only riding bikes, you'll mainly just put on fat.
You can also try using a mass-gainer (on top of eating a lot and working out). You want to eat healthy too...

Get the whey protein mix from walmart, strawberry is the shit. just ride till your'e sore then ride some more, drink a protein shake and do it all again. and only use half of the plastic scoop they give you, no one needs 52 grams of protein

i bet you could drink it while your riding too, thats my plan. i want a mass-gainer if that gives you the most muscle. im lanky as fuck and need to change that. and i ride for like 5 hrs every time im at the park, so i most deff wont put on fat. i wouldnt put on fat anyways cause im that skinny kid that could survive off twinkies and never gain a pound.

So which is the best brand to gain the most muscle??? and where do you buy it?

i need 52 grams!!!! i cant put on muscle or fat, and i ride from sun up to sun down in the summer (not literally, but pretty damn close. plus i ride to and from the park which isnt very close)

52 grams just goes right through you. but this stuff is like 15 bucks for a pound tub, I have this stuff and it has amino acids n stuff so the next day your muscles feel buttery haha its like body fortress brand or something, pick it up

Riding bikes only really works a couple muscles. You want to actually go to the gym and hit everything at least once a week so you are proportionate....

So im looking at the BSN True-mass ultra premium lean mass gainer. It looks like the right one. Anybody have any experience with it? Im confused with all the take before during after and like 3 times a day??? somebody want to explain exactly when you drink it?

i did this.

protein shake.
work out.

next day.

ride.

repeat that and focus on one body part each day like a day of legs a day of arms etc. p90x works pretty well too.

You can't do cardio and expect to gain muscle mass. You have to hit the weights, do a set of ten at a good weight, add weight and drop reps to 8, and so on. work out a different set of two muscle groups every other day, and carrion on days off. When you hit a plateau, where you aren't seeing any gains, switch things up to shock your system. You also have to hope you were blessed with a decent amount of natural testosterone.

you dont gain muscle from riding. only a tiny bit. biking works on your cardio. biking with a 24-28 pound bike dont really make you build muscles. just lift weights

i beg to differ. Riding all day is like doing a constant rep all day. i dont know about you guys, but im soooooo freaking sore all over after a hard days riding. sore muscles mean muscle damage, and repairing muscle damage is what helps your muscles get stronger and bigger. so supplementing sore muscles with extra protein will help them grow bigger, regardless of what you did to work them. at least thats my understanding.

but i will workout in addition to riding. but i think riding is a pretty good muscle workout, especially when supplemented with extra protein.

In order to gain weight, you need to be lifting high weight at low reps (which is NOT what bike riding does).
Riding gives you lean muscle, and mainly just adds endurance and burns fat (as it is mainly cardio)

I'm rocking the Gaspari Super Pump Max before riding or working out. its makes me wanna hop or lift everything and also helps build muscles at the same time. its a lil' bit expensive but it sure works.

Get ankle weights and run up and down your stairs. Then do a bunch of sit ups. Then different stuff with dumb bells. Stretch first.

This. I worked out quite a bit in highschool as well as in the Navy. Building muscle mass is one thing my body does pretty easily, which is why I weigh almost 300lbs at 6'0, but don't look like a fat tub o crap. I'm not as toned like a wrestler, but I refuse to pick up weights because I don't want to keep getting bigger. I do cardio now specifically to not gain muscle mass. You want to be skinny and lean, ride your bike. Muscle mass, lift, like we have been telling you.

No need for protein shakes or any of that.

Like said above, use the bike as a cardio workout, since that's mainly what it is.

I used to be sort of fat but i was weak, the key is to just lift and dont try like really big weights. Just lift and do a ton of cardio, but go for toning workouts.

Well i bought this 6 lb bag of pure whey protein from costco. I thought it was gonna taste like butthole but it tastes like a really good milkshake! If anybody cares............ i definitely recommend it based on the taste. Now to see if it actually does anything!
