Whos got guns?

11/23/2012 3:50 PM

I recently turned 18 and am looking to buy a Smith and Wesson AR-15. I know some of you guys have your own firearms, if so, what guns do you have and for what purpose? Whether for hunting, sport shooting at a range, zombie defense etc.

My dad has some but these are the ones i actually bought myself:
Remington 12 Gauge
Mossberg .270
Savage .22
I bought them with plans in using them for hunting. The shotgun was for birds, the .270 was for deer, and the .22 for small game. Haven't really done any hunting since i've had them though. I've gone dove hunting once with the shotgun and i've only used the .22 just for targets and random shit. I've only shot the .270 enough times to sight my scope in, need to get them out soon.

i've had a few AR15's, not worth owning unless you have the hundreds of dollars for ammunition. I believe it's like $23 for 20 rounds of Federal. Cheaper ammunition WILL jam in an AR15, so you have to shoot good ammo...

as for what i have:
- Kahr CW40 (my carry)
- Mossberg 12g
- Remington Side by Side 1894 12g

What i have had:
- Bushmaster AR15 flat top with bi-pod, collapsible stock, iron sites
- DPMS Tac 2 Ar15 with Trijicon 1x38 Sealed Reflex Sight and Magpul ACS stock
- Colt Ar15 with all my m4 shrouds, red dot site and the coolest option for any AR15 owner, the Slidefire stock. (pretty much turns your AR15 into full auto, legally)

Now the pistols:
- Springfield XDM .9mm
- Springfield XD .45mm
- Taurus 24/7 Pro C .40
- Taurus Judge 410
- Beretta 9mm

i say bushmaster ARs are the best, my uncle has a bushmaster and a rock river and i would go with the bushmaster...

as for pistols, Glock, S&W, Taurus, are all good, as is Kimber and beretta, walther ...

hunting depends on where you live/hunt cuz you cant shoot rifles in areas that are to small (savage, winchester and remington are good brands for rifles) , muzzleloading is fun but you only have one shot (thompson center is the best muzzleloader brand out there)

shotguns i would go with a mossberg, remington, saiga are good brands

DPMS is way better than a Bushmaster, my Bushy would jam every 3rd round if i used cheap ammo, my DPMS would should almost everything. Also, the DPMS shoots fine when it's dirty, not the same for the Bushy.

my uncles never jams, the rock river does though

Ask him what ammo he uses, you can't run cheap shit through them...go with Colt or DPMS, if Bushy was worthy then the military would contract them to make their firearms, there's a reason they didn't and a reason i didn't like mine...not worth spending $800+ on an AR to have it jam all the time using cheaper ammo.

exactly, at $1.00+ per round it's a rifle not worth owning unless you can afford to buy ammo in bulk, which is 100+ rounds for like $80 and that shit goes FAST.

yeah prices are crazy now, a local guy just made his own ammo brand and my cousin (he's 12) bought him a glock and 1,000 rounds, the week after he bought a 32 round mag... we had about 700 rounds at the end of that day...

gun laws are really strict here.

my dad has an air rifle and 3 shotguns. Double barrel, a single barrel, small sized bolt action one for shooting hares
and an air hand gun which is basically a bb gun on steroids

Once im 18 im going to try and get a fire arms certificate and get a 357. magnum (the only hand gun you can own) and a .22 bolt action.

parkrat.

Dang Sbc, that Slidefire stock sounds like a great way to blow through expensive ammo even faster!! But it would be so rad...

And yeah I am sorta skeptical with buying an AR-15 due to the expensiveness of ammo, but I have wanted one for a long time and now I am old enough to get one! I deff plan to take it to the range whenever I can with buddies, just make them buy their own ammunition. Honestly tho, I just want a sturdy gun in case anything fishy happens. Zombies... collapse of the government... etc.
The AR that I am currently looking at is here.. Californicated AR-15

Let me know what you think of this specific AR-15... With all the research I have done thus far this seems to be the best AR for me, plus I have found relatively zero bad reviews.

i bought the Slidefire because i get ammunition for nothing, being ex-military has it's perks

for the kiddies who wanna see what a Slidefire does

completely legal to own too, no need for a Class 3 or Title 2 license.

as for our gun laws...we have pretty much no strict laws. We can have a full magazine in any weapon as long as we're target shooting and not hunting, so i can have my 300 round drum full in the AR and it'll be legal.

11/24/2012 6:23 PM

i only have a cut 410 and a 22 lol both i got from a kid that owed me some money... i wanna pick up like an ar7 and a mosin nagant... the nagants jumped up in price alot over the last year so im probably going to pick one up soon

skooter... dont be a pussy

skooter: "WHY DIDN'T YOU GIVE ME VODKA!?"
sketchytravis: "... because i like being drunk, and if i give you my vodka im not drunk as much"
Chuck8273: "Logical. I like this logic. "

i want an M1 carbine, always wanted one but never got one due to all the garbage ones i find

11/24/2012 11:52 PM

WTF that slidefire stock is awesome! I will tell you what Sbc, when zombies come, I am going to come hangout with you! You have that stock PLUS a 300 round mag.. we will be set. Then I will be plinkin away at zombies one by one with my wimpy AR-15 with a bullet button and 10 round mag... hahahaha

As far as the M1 Carbine goes, thats a solid gun if you can find one in good shape. I would LOVE to shoot one of those bad boys.

So does anyone have opinions or have used the Smith and Wesson M&P AR-15?

11/25/2012 5:54 PM

The S&W is good but the DPMS is better

it's just a smaller caliber AK (74 means it was designed in 1974)

imo, 7.62 > 5.45

How much was your DPMS?

11/25/2012 7:05 PM

which means rounds are lighter and cheaper... I can carry twice the clips as the 47 at the same weight

11/25/2012 7:06 PM

but accuracy gets tanked on scrub as big as a fern

one thing i've learned when it comes to assault rifles, the larger caliber is always better, i can't wait until the Army starts using ACR's and Scar's with the 7.62 kit more because the M4 is so fucking outdated and the AK is actually more superior than the M4/M16. When i was overseas we practiced a lot with AK47's, the 7.62 was nice to shoot, more accurate and did so much more damage...we're lucky Al Qaeda hasn't figure out how to aim yet.
