Bikes Belong Survey - BMX Access to Skateparks
The Bikes Belong Coalition recently conducted a survey about BMX access in skateparks. They talked to nearly 100 skatepark managers in a bunch of different areas to get some insight on why or why not bikes are working in their local parks. Also, they include a few tips about what you can do if you're interested in getting bikes access to your local park. Click here and read it.What do you think of this?

Bmx'ers need to more involved when it comes to working with the cities when they do decide to build a park. You hear it all the time that bmx'ers did not participate in planning or show up at meetings during the planning stages and then we wonder why we are not allowed in. Plus team pain is saying that bikes wreck parks doesn't help either.

what about when bikers build the parks everyone from my town who helps build parks is a bmx rider skaters have nothing to do with it yet they still make comments like its a "skate"park not a bike park or dont grind rail the shit of it is no one realizes skaters also dent rails and coping they just blame it on us

what a coinkydink, today at my park i had an incident... so bikes arnt "allowed", but cops go by all day long without even a care in the world then one cop walks up and says i cant ride in the park but i can ride around the edge..... like that comment alone just pissed me off, and then i just said wow, picked up my shit and tried to leave and he started raising his voice and saying he would impound my bike,... f*** that s***! i cannot stannd that, hollllyyyyy s***, this is good advice for me though cause im going to the city hall,
anyway, go ride guys!

most park riders i've seen rarely grind or have plastic pegs, so we don't cause that much damage.
even if they run metal pegs, the copings aren't going to get smashed unless you get little kids going there learning to grind.

You know what should be more of a concern at skateparks then bikes vs. skateboards...
Children smoking and doing drugs at unsupervised parks.

we only have one park that cares. '702 skate shop'. i understand that they want to keep there park clean and everything, but they dont care how nice you are. you cant even walk in the door with a bike without getting yelled at. it just ticks me off that the manager would do that when the city built the park for all of us.. :/

Recently moved to laramie wyoming where the only skatepark prohibits all bikes and has made special gates to restrict bikes, this is jsut a minor inconvience and noone really seems to care when bikes are at the park and it is a very good flowing park. overall good experience skateboarders are friendly and cops never seem to care.
