After being on the team for nine years, Chad Kagy and DC Shoes have parted ways.

Chad just sent over this statement:

"DC as with all other companies right now are going through a lot of budget changes in the bad economy. Unfortunately I'm the one that gets the cut from the team since my contract expires soon. I'm sure another shoe sponsor will come around or maybe DC will change their mind if budgets change soon. Sucks that after 9 years on the team and being one of the last two original DC Shoes  team members still left on the team, I end up parting ways. Doyle is left being the last original rider, hope he and the rest of the team have a better outcome than me. Quicksilver took over DC and the company grew to huge new levels but now things have changed and BMX is very difficult to prove our worth since we don't sell shoes in bike shops, we advertise through print ads, internet and television which helps make sales at malls and skate shops. On paper that doesn't help us, it's been a never ending discussion when it comes to BMX teams in larger companies. I thank DC for 9 good years working well together and hope they recover well from the economic down turn. I'll be looking for a few new sponsors for the future, nothing changes for me since I still plan to ride and compete so I'll find new sponsors eventually."
