This past weekend at the Dew Tour in Cleveland, BMX dirt rider Chris Doyle went down hard in prelims, which resulted in a broken jaw. Vital BMX recently spoke with Chris to figure out what was going on and this is what he had to say.
"I'm officially wired shut for the next two weeks. I broke the Mandibular Condyle part of my jaw (it's the part closest to your ear). Luckily, the medical staff in Cleveland hooked me up with a doctor in Pittsburgh whom they said was the best oral/maxiofacial surgeon in the region, so that was awesome. I saw him yesterday (Monday, the 23rd) and he wired me shut. I'll only need to be wired shut for two weeks. My girlfriend has been awesome, she bought a blender and has been making me smoothies. Also, believe it or not, I really like Ensure, that stuff is delicious. I'll probably lose some weight as a result of this, but I heard it comes back fast, so no big deal. I'm gonna miss The Rebel Jam in Berlin and Morgan Wade's wedding, both of which I was really looking forward to, but I should be good to go by the Portland Dew tour next month. I'd like to send a big thanks out to the medical staff at the Dew Tour in Cleveland. They were a huge help!"
Vital BMX wishes Doyle a speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing him back on his bike soon.
