Daniel Dhers has had quite the contest season this year. On top of winning the park contests at two of the four Dew Tours, he also managed to take home an X-Games gold medal in both the United States and Asia. Daniel has a pretty big lead in the points race for the overall Dew Cup and Vital BMX recently caught up with him to see how he’s preparing for the final stop of the Dew Tour and how he feels about the possibility of taking home the Dew Cup in BMX Park two years in a row.

What are your plans going into the final stop of the Dew Tour?
Just be consistent, have a good first run and then go bananas on the second run, haha!

Have you been riding differently than normal preparing for this event?
Not really, I always ride the same way. I’ve been taking it easy because of the crash i had in SLC in practice, but I'm getting back to normal.

Are you more focused on a win in Florida or on the overall title?
I'm more focus on the overall title, but at the same time I just want to go and have fun doing my thing. Hopefully it'll be good enough to get the win in Orlando, though!

Are you going into the event 100% healthy?

Kind of, I'm still recovering from the fall i had in SLC (720 tailwhip), but hopefully I'll be full on by then.

What do you think it is going to take to get the overall win?
Consistency for sure. I believe I have to make it into the top 8 to get the overall win, but that doesn't mean I'm going to take it easy...

7. An overall win would make you the first person to win the BMX park title two years in a row. Does that add any pressure?
Not really, I always go to the contest wanting to pull my tricks more than actually winning the event. It adds excitement more than pressure.

8. If you get the win, do you have any plans for the money?

I could go CarlsonCo. style and go to Vegas and spend it at the strip clubs and casinos, but I think might save part of it and buy a Mercedes or something with the other part, we'll see.
