Rye Airfield is finally stepping up and offering a pro contest with serious cash and prizes from December 4th-6th, yes there will be an AM contest as well. This will be a simultaneous running of the 5th Anniversary Wicked AM and the first ever Wicked PRO.

A lot of people have asked why we waited so long to do this and it’s pretty much because I never felt like we had the park layout for a contest that would bring in the best riders from all over, and it needed to be something that was created by and for the locals as much as anybody else. We now have local guys like Brian Hunt and Aaron Smith who shred and are well respected, plus a pile of others with local roots like Zac Earley, Josh Perry & Marcus Tooker, and don’t forget Drew Bezanson (yah he’s Canadian but we’ll still claim him here). The huge upside is that Brad Jameson from FunDay? Skateparks is putting the finishing touches on the new layout this Fall so there is no better way to christen it.

We are super stoked to have Staff BMX come on as a huge sponsor for the event, Kevin & Bruce have been awesome and we couldn’t ask for a better partnership to pull this whole thing off. Besides that, they have Big Daddy on their team!

The tentative itinerary is:

Thursday December 4th – registration 3-9, BMX only session 9-midnight
Friday December 5th – registration 3-9, Am prelims start at 6pm, Pro only BMX session 9-midnight
Saturday December 6th – registration 9-3, Am semis at 12pm, Am Finals 3pm, Pro Prelims 4pm, Video premier (top secret right now) at 9pm followed by a BMX only session.
Sunday December 7th – Groms 12&under 11am, Pro semis 12-2, Pro finals 3pm, Party/Awards off-site 6pm or so.

Prizes will include a minimum of $10,000 cash with a guarantee of $500 for each pro finalist, plus bonuses for 1st through 10th place, $500 to the best placed New Englander (gotta live here), $500 best trick and $500 for the best run without a tailwhip (not necessarily the winning run, just whoever can pull a run without a tailwhip). The format will include an intro run for each rider, followed by a jam session then each rider gets a final run.

Entry is $25 for groms, $50 for ams, $75 for pros and includes riding for the 4 days of the event. Pros will have their own lounge and bike check area, plus other amenities as they are confirmed. Remember, this is only the first round of information coming out, a lot more should take shape.

Just go out and spread the word now, there are tons of hotel rooms to crash in and three airports within an hour. Check VitalBMX.com often for the latest updates.
