Red Bull Elevation has been one of the most respected and most popular BMX contests of the last three years. Now, with dirt out of the X-Games, Elevation has become the pinnacle dirt jumping event of the year. With 2007's Elevation officially wrapped up, Vital BMX asked contest organizer and BMX legend Jay Miron a few questions about the event.
What is your overall opinion of this year's Elevation contest?
I'm super happy with how it turned out. It was a good time and the riders put on the best show we could have ever hoped for.
How did 2007's Elevation compare to the previous two years of the contest?
This years Elevation was a bit better than last year's; just like last year's was better than the first. As we do it again and again, we learn how to make it better.
If you could have changed anything about this year's Elevation, what would it have been?
The last jump would have been easier to jump. I thought it was a bit dangerous this year.
Was this the last Elevation contest ever? If not, will Elevation return to Whistler?
This was definitely the last Elevation in Whistler, but hopefully not the last. I really want to do another somewhere else in the world.
Is there anything you would like to add?
I want to thank all of the people who come together to make the event so great. Red Bull, the jump builders, the media, the Metro Crew, the Hangman Crew, Tom Pro from Whistler, and especially the riders. They're all amazing and it's a pleasure to watch them ride.
