The Bikes Belong Coalition recently conducted a survey about BMX access in skateparks. They talked to nearly 100 skatepark managers in a bunch of different areas to get some insight on why or why not bikes are working in their local parks. Also, they include a few tips about what you can do if you're interested in getting bikes access to your local park. Click here and read it.

What do you think of this?

Do you have any experiences, good or bad, with bikes getting access to skateparks?

JJ Palmere Q&A

Rumors were flying about where JJ Palmere would end up after parting ways with Mongoose around a week ago. Today it was announced that JJ has re-joined the Premium team. We asked JJ a few questions to get some details.
So you're back on Premium, huh?
Yes I am.

How did this come about?
Well, things at Mongoose have been good over the past months, but everyone at the office is leaving after October of this year. When I heard this news I wasn't psyched on it. I like having a good relationship with my sponsors. I would have to meet all new people there. I was tight with the team manager at Mongoose and I didn't feel right knowing all of this was coming in the future. The people at Premium are some of my really good friends. It just felt right to be on a team with my best friend again. After talking to Garrett (Reynolds) and the people at the office, I decided Premium is where I belong.

Has anything changed at Premium since you originally left?
Yes, the team manager has changed, which is a BIG difference.

What is your current bike set up?
It's a Premium 21" Deathtrap frame with Premium lite forks, Premium wheels, Premium cranks, a Premium Subten stem, Premium 8.25 bars, Premium comfort grips, a Premium fat seat with a pivotal post, etc.

Do you have anything else in the works with Premium?
As of right now just to make web videos for them and do trips together.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?
Ride....ride....travel....ride....

Anything else you'd like to add?
Life's great. Must be nice!

According to the Failure site, Jeremiah Smith went down hard at the Worlds and fractured his jaw. Jeremiah was invited to compete at both the Nike 6.0 HB BMX Pro and X-Games Superpark, both of which are taking place very soon. There is no word on if he will be able to compete in these contests yet, but we'll have more information on this as soon as it becomes available.

JJ Palmere is once again riding for Premium. We'll have a Q&A with JJ about this up later today. For now, here's what Allan Cooke had to say about this:

We are proud to announce that JJ Palmere is once again a part of the Premium Team. We couldn’t be more stoked; when I took over here it was on my list of things to do getting JJ back in the mix here at Premium. JJ is once again healthy and motivated, when a rider as good as JJ is motivated only good things happen. I can’t wait to see some of the magic that is going to come from him in the up coming future.

Harry Main Injury Q&A

Harry Main went down hard around a week ago and ended up with a pretty bad injury that will keep him sidelined for a while. We asked Harry a few questions to get the whole scoop.
Photo: Ricky Adam / Nike 6.0Where were you when you were injured?
Cologne, Germany filming with Nike 6.0.

What trick were you trying? What happened?
Seriously just a barspin up a step-up stairset with a disabled ramp as the takeoff. I landed a little back wheel heavy and looped out off the back end. I put my leg down and dislocated my ankle so fast that it broke my fibia bone right at the bottom near my ankle. I immediately grabbed my ankle and popped it back in myself, then we kind of thought it was fine. But, when I picked up my leg, the bone moved under the skin.

So is that considered a leg break or an ankle break?
What I've done was classed as an ankle break, but it was the fibia bone in my leg near the bottom. I snapped the tendon that holds my ankle in place.

Did you have to get surgery?
I had to get surgery yesterday and now I'm in pain. Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, I'm pretty much off my face on painkillers.

Are you staying in the UK until you're healed?
Yeah, definitely. I actually flew home from Germany with the leg broken to be near home.

What contests are you going to have to miss because of the injury?

Nike 6.0 HB BMX Pro and X-games. I'm not too sure how many stops of Dew Tour I'm going to miss yet.

Any idea when you're going to be able to ride again?
I'm in a cast for six weeks if all is well. Hopefully riding in eight-to-ten weeks.

Anything else?
I would like to thank everybody that has helped me out with the whole thing and Jamie Dobb for getting me into Everton Football Club for my physio. I think it's going to drive me absoultely crazy not riding for ten weeks, but it will motivate me to ride so much more. I've always been scared of breaking my leg and thought about it a lot. Now that I've done it there's no holding back. I'll get a new web video up as soon as I'm back on my bike. I already thought of like five new tricks in my head lying in a hospital bed.

Thanks Mum for helping me on the airplane and bringing me amazing food everyday in the hospital!

Thanks Vital for the interview and t-shirts!
