Portland, Oregon - 8/20/06 – Ryan Nyquist overcame a torn ACL en route to winning the BMX park competition in the third round of the Dew Action Sports Tour.
Ryan Nyquist showed the true depth of his competitive drive by riding with a torn ACL en route to winning the BMX Park competition. The BMX star, who also competed in the BMX dirt competition where he finished fourth, just beat out fellow WMG athlete and X Games Gold medalist Scotty Cramner who finished in second. At 27 years of age, Nyquist was the oldest competitor in the competition however he didn’t let that stop him from qualifying in the top spot before riding on to victory. Ryan’s winning run was flawless and including a bevy of bar spin combinations and huge airs.
“I originally planned on just competing in the dirt competition however after riding a little bit my knee felt ok so I decided to give the park a shot too. Needless to say I’m glad I did!” exclaimed an elated Nyquist afterwards. The multi-talented Nyquist also took home the Silver medal at X Games 12 in the BMX dirt competition. The win in Portland will definitely help propel Nyquist further up the overall standings as the veteran looks to win the championship. Watch out for Ryan to capitalize on this recent momentum at the next stop of the Dew Tour Action Sports Tour.
Ryan would like to thank all his sponsors: Haro Bicycles, Adidas, Thor, OGIO Bags, Napster, and Jiffy Mart of Los Gatos.
