-The two most important news bits first:
1.The new Madera website is up! Check out www.maderabmx.net as I just posted news up there today.
2.If you live in the immediate Tampa bay area, tomorrow (Thursday the 5th) a meeting will be held at the cement bowl downtown which will dictate whether we get a new cement park or not. Please attend the meeting, it;s at 5:30 in the recreation building next to the bowl. If not, expect a dog park instead. Seriously, I was warned today by the city's landscape architect.
-We just got back from Interbike last Saturday. Our booth was cut in half but I feel the response has been the best its been in the five years that I have gone. Here are the highlights:
1.Do to a really positive reaction, we will be running the copper/brown product line. Expect hubs, seat post clamps, and imperial sprockets. This color in particular turned out amazing.
2.The shirts went over really well. Dan's picked up 3 new designs for this season, including Mulville's new shirt.
3.The flat cranks are now available in 160 and 165mm with accompanying imperial sprockets in size 18/20/22t, available in purple, blue, and black. Check www.flatlandfuel.com for availability.
4.We had on display and will continue to test our 8t drivers compatible to Profile Hubs. Myself, McDermott, our buddy Forrest Roberts, and Joe West will be beating them into, what we hope won't be. submission.
5.I pedaled through the ghetto with Todd Johnson from QBP to go ride UNLV campus. We got there and I immediately jumped up a five stair to full on case. Somehow, I didn't get a flat which would have saved miles of walking through the shadiest neighborhoods in Vegas.
6.In five years of going to the show, I had never gone to the Nora cup. Until this year. It was intersting to say the least. Due to the large amounts of adult beverage consumed, most of the announcers of awards were too innebriated to be understood. I hung out on the sidelines with Kerry Sayre, Adam Banton, and Cico while listening to Scott Powell explain what "humping a bike" in flatland context meant. I'm most stoked for Josh Harrington as his part in the Premium video definately deserved best video part of the year. The rest was a blur, and I was sober.
7.I lost $20 on nickle slots in less that five minutes, Mulville lost $5 on the same slot in ten minutes (not bad), and Corey Alley (Profile's designer) won $3400 on video poker.
8.Mulville and I got to take pictures with twin elvis', one of which had a karate suite on.
9.Mulville got five pounds of free power bars which he'll live off of for awhile.
10.And Bostrom and KP have mighty attractive lady friends who I finally got to meet.
-The 4th annual Skatepark of Tampa BMX contest will be going down on November 4th, Saturday. Expect Pinzon to open some eyes. He has been so diligent in his med school studies that when he gets a chance to ride, it's full speed ahead. He's so out of control that he's in control. It's a site to see-I saw him brakeless wall slap 3ft back out of a vert quarter tonight. It was a dance with death. Amazing.
-Mulville is moving back to Florida in two weeks.
-Chad Moore is thinking about attending college in NYC, and I saw him pull an up rail to 180 and them jump backwards on another rail. It was at the local park, but still pretty wild.
-Bostrom is becoming a pro surfer according to Adam Banton.
-Ty is moving to Hawaii next month until January for riding and a nice side job dealing with camera work.
-Cico lost a bunch of money gambling while in Vegas.
-Tony Cardona's van broke down. So at Interbike he raised about $500 in donation money to get it fixed. Thanks to everyone who helped him out!
