NEW YORK – September 19, 2006 – The Dew Action Sports Tour, the pro tour of action sports, today announced the winner of the PlayStation® Trick of the Week Award from the Toyota Challenge. Voting began on Monday, September 11, the day after competitions ended. Fans were able to view video clips and vote online at www.dewactionsportstour.com until Monday, September 18.
Fans selected Kevin Robinson as the PlayStation® Trick of the Week winner after he performed a Double Flair following the BMX Vert competition. This is the second time Robinson has landed the trick.
"I’m happy to finally be successful in San Jose,” Robinson said. “Last year I was injured at the Toyota Challenge, and this year I felt I didn’t ride my best during the contest. Now I have a victory coming out of San Jose – my first ever PlayStation® Trick of the Week win!”
Robinson faced tough competition for the PlayStation® Trick of the Week Award. Bob Burnquist completed a perfect Frontside 540 during Skateboard Vert Finals. In Skateboard Park, Greg Lutzka nailed the Switch Kickflip Backside Lipslide. Dave Dillewaard landed the 360 Tailwhip Barspin in BMX Dirt Finals. Steven McCann landed the highly technical No-handed 720 to Turndown on the BMX Park course. Freestyle Motocross points leader Nate Adams pulled a Superman Seatgrab Indian Air followed by a Cordova Backflip.
Robinson wins $5,000, and his trick will compete for the PlayStation® Trick of the Year versus other Trick of the Week winners from other Dew Action Sports Tour events, including Ryan Nyquist, Keith McElhinney and Scotty Cranmer. Polls will be open throughout the week of the upcoming PlayStation® Pro, Saturday, October 7 - Sunday, October 15, when online voters will choose the PlayStation Trick of the Year winner from the four PlayStation Trick of the Week winners. The winner will be announced during the Dew Action Sports Tour NBC broadcast on Sunday, October 15. This athlete will take home $10,000 in cash as well as other PlayStation® prizes.
PlayStation® is a Tour founding partner and has naming rights for the PlayStation® Pro, taking place at the TD Waterhouse Centre in Orlando, FL, October 12-15.
