- Bike Checks
Ryan Nyquist is the man to beat this 2007 season. Coming fresh off his victory at the first stop of the 2007 Dew Action Sports Tour, Nyquist headed up to Canada to compete in one of the most prestigious events of the year; Red Bull’s Elevation. The superbly laid out course is a favorite of the riders, with its high speeds and huge transfers the course truly challenges the contestants in a way no other course does. This is part of the reason that all the top names show up prepared to do battle and this year Nyquist bested them all.
After overcoming a freak mechanical malfunction on his bike and an early crash that left him hurt, Ryan wasn’t sure he was even going to compete in the finals. However at the urging of his fellow competitors, and graciously being loaned a bike to use, ever the competitor Nyquist decided to give it a shot. After quickly changing over his gear to the new bike, he gave it a few practice runs. “After the first few practice runs I thought there was no way I was going to win. The bike just wasn’t set up to how I’m used to and it was throwing off all my tricks” said a discouraged Nyquist. However once the finals got underway, Nyquist rode like the champion he is, not letting the different bike set up interfere with his winning run. After the dust settled Nyquist just barely beat out second place by .1 percent with 92.1. The victory makes Nyquist 2 for 2 this summer in BMX dirt competitions and the odds on favorite heading into the next Dew Tour. So tune in and see if Ryan can go 3 for 3 when the second stop of the Dew Action Sports Tour gets under way July 19th!
