Rye Airfield's Wicked Jam is Back!
Rye Airfield’s Wicked Jam is back!
Rye, New Hampshire (September 23, 2009)
Rye Airfield had so much fun last year they are going at it again with the 2nd running of the Wicked Jam set for December 5th & 6th. Staff is back as the primary sponsor providing all the prizes for the AM’s. There will also be two new additions this year to the comp, a women’s division (help get the word out ladies, it’s what you asked for) and a street jam presented by Scion. The event will run two days with the am comp on Saturday, consisting of multiple rounds to qualify and the finals. The pros will hit the course on Saturday as well with their open qualifiers at night. Sunday brings out the crazy groms for an early afternoon jam session of their own followed by the Pro finals, which are sure to pack the house again. Last year the comp had nearly 1500 spectators over the weekend and more than 100 competitors. The Scion street jam is slated for Sunday night after the pro park finals.
Everybody from the locals to pros and sponsors have been waiting for this event to roll back around:
“When my kids started asking if Morgan would be back, I knew it was time to get the ball rolling again on this. The comp was so sick last year, Brian (Hunt) really put a ton of work into it, the judges were awesome and Catfish kept it all together on the mic. If we can keep that crew together again, we will be all set, then my biggest worry is defending the barefoot race around the park, Augie already threw down a challenge and I know Cardona will be up for it, he seems up for anything.” - Beau Lambert from Rye Airfield
"Staff is pumped to once again be part of the wicked Jam, from the park to the riders, to the environment it was hands down one of the funnest contest last year for us, and we can't wait to get back up to RYE if for nothing else but to have a good time and ride one of the most amazing park set ups there is." - Kevin Conners
"I was psyched on the contest last year and can't wait to get back this year to ride the park and the new added street section." - Rob Darden
“The Wicked what?” – random kid at Rye, whatever kid, you will know come December 5th and 6th.
You can count on the whole crew from Staff coming back in force, let’s see if Garrett Reynolds can make it two in a row, B Hunt is hungry to win at his home park and a whole bunch of people that missed it last year are threatening to come this year, let’s see who stays true to their word. Beau’s parting shot was “don’t forget your snowboards, we are heading up to Sunday River after the comp for a few days of shredding again, they are going to give anybody that was part of the event some special lodging and ticket deals, oh yah.”
Come early, stay late, there will be late night practice sessions until midnight for the whole week before the comp in addition to a whole new mini-ramp and street section that are being added this fall.
The tentative itinerary is:
Tuesday through Friday 3pm – 9pm Open session, 9pm-Midnight BMX only practice
Saturday December 5th – registration 9-3, Am qualifiers followed by finals, pro qualifiers
Sunday December 7th – Groms 12&under 1pm, Pro finals 3pm, Scion street jam to follow pro finals
Prizes will include a minimum of $10,000 cash and prizes; special bonus awards will be announced this fall.
Entry is $25 for groms, $50 for ams & women, $75 for pro. Pros will have their own lounge and bike check area, plus fully catered meals on Saturday and Sunday again, (yes Catfish there will be brownies). Trish Bare Grounds will also be on site to help with any injuries for the weekend.
Rye Airfield is New England’s Premier Skateboard Park and BMX Track, if you haven’t been here yet, you are missing out.

Simpel Summer Session
Time: 29th of August 2009
Place: Liberty Square, Tallinn Estonia
Time: 29th of August 2009
Place: Liberty Square, Tallinn Estonia
After some heavy business in our annual cold season event many of you have been asking for a good reason to visit Estonia in the summer. Here you finally have it. - we're throwing a Summer Session on the 29th of August! Simpel Summer Session is an outdoor event, so there is hope for warm and sunny weather, breezy hang-outs in the greenery and a lot of spontaneous street riding.
Whereas the wintertime main event features skateboarding hand in hand with BMX, this year's summer edition of the contest is experimentally going to be bikes-only. As we have cut down a bit on the size of the event and compressed all of the action in one day, the Simpel Summer Session is going to take place at a really cool new location - the soon-to-be re-opened Liberty Square in the very heart of Tallinn! Moreover, the event is free for the spectators, so all townfolks will be there.
The park will be designed by Nate Wessel again, as always. Due to the challenging venue, the summer park is going to be a bit smaller than the usual, but nevertheless as fun as ever. The event is once again hosted by the devoted Catfish himself. The unforgettable contest will be followed by an unstoppable afterparty later that night.
Don't miss out the chance to have a Session in the summer time!

RYAN GUETTLER WINS THE ASA BIG AIR BMX TRIPLES AT THE OC SUPER FAIR
RYAN GUETTLER WINS THE ASA BIG AIR BMX TRIPLES AT THE OC SUPER FAIR
COSTA MEDA, Calif. (July 31, 2009) – Tonight, before a raucous SoCal crowd, Ryan Guettler (Queensland, Australia), stood atop the podium in the Action Sports Arena at the Orange County Super Fair as the winner of ASA Entertainment’s 2009 Big Air BMX Triples presented by BFD.com (ASA BMX Triples). It’s the second ASA BMX Triples title Guettler has won this year on the ASA Action Sports World Tour, having placed first at the Minneapolis, Minn. tour stop in April. Guettler’s the only man to hold two ASA BMX Triples titles and he certainly hopes it won’t be his last.
“I won in Minneapolis a few months ago and then had to miss the Chicago competition due to prior obligations. I even had to juggle this contest around the X Games, but it’s worth it, “ Said Guettler. “People were telling me to pull out of the Triples since I had qualified for the X Games Finals, but I refused. Every time I’ve competed in the Triples I’ve placed first. (Guettler also took top honors in the Round One prelims on Wednesday.) It’s almost like it’s my contest; like I’m the man to beat and I wanted to be here and win it.”
Joining Guettler on the podium in second place was fellow Australian Andy Buckworth the 18 year-old from Lake Haven, Australia who seemed a little in awe of the other riders and more impressed by competing alongside them than he was with his success.
“Guettler has been my idol since I was in the 6th grade. To come to this contest and take second behind him is great!” Buckworth told FUEL TV’s Weekly Update. “And Triples course is awesome. It’s basically a dirt jump made of wood – way more consistent and fun.”
Rounding out the top three finishers was Brandon Dosch of Lake Orion, Mich.
Glaringly absent from the winner’s circle was T.J. Ellis (Moreno Valley, Calif.) who has made the podium in the last five events in which he’s competed. While Ellis bested Koji Kraft (Addison, Ill.) in tonight’s quarterfinals with big tricks and smooth execution, Dosch upset the big air specialist by laying down an impressive first run of a triple whip, 360 triple whip to a double whip off the quarter pipe. After losing control in his first run against Dosch, Ellis felt pressured to go big in his second run and threw a double back flip off the second jump. His landing was less than the perfection he needed to advance as his foot became wedged under the pedal and tire during the landing and he twisted his ankle. This opened the way for Dosch into the final three.
Round One of ASA’s Big Air BMX Triples goes down at OC Super Fair Tonight!
Round One of ASA’s Big Air BMX Triples goes down at OC Super Fair Tonight!
Ryan Guettler leads the Round One Finalists
COSTA MESA, Calif. (July 29, 2009) – Round one of ASA Entertainment’s Big Air BMX Triples played out tonight before an enthusiastic Orange County crowd and measured up to everyone’s expectations. After several intense match-ups, Ryan Guettler (Beenleigh, Australia) had laid down a run that bested his final head-to-head competitors Colton Satterfield (Salt City, Utah), and Josh Hult (Idaho Falls, Idaho), and advanced to the Finals on Friday night as the winner of the round.
Earlier this season, Guettler captured the Big Air BMX Triples title in Minneapolis, Minn., beating Satterfield along the way. But Satterfield, who debuted in the Big AIr BMX Triples at that event, seems to be a changed rider these days, and the effort he made tonight pushed Guettler to a level reminiscent of championships.
“I’ve been training really hard lately,” said Satterfield after his second place finish. “I had a friend of mine build me a box jump similar to the first jump on this course and I’ve just been hitting it hard.” Satterfield nailed his first run of tonight’s finals and enjoyed the lead after Guettler and Holt missed on their first attempts.
Guettler was feeling the pressure. “I saw Colton’s run and immediately began thinking about what I should do – Change my run? Do something more difficult? Leave it the same?” He explained. “I hadn’t decided what to do by the time I started my run, so I missed my tricks. But, when I saw that Colton’s second run was basically the same as his first, I just tried to focus on only what I needed to do; I threw tricks I knew I could do well.”
As one of the six men advancing to the Finals on Friday night, Satterfield will have another chance. “I have a little something left up my sleeve, “ he said. Qualifying tonight along with Satterfield for Friday’s finals are the following men: Dennis Enarson (San Diego, Calif.), Luke Parslow (Melbourne, Australia), Rob Darden (Greenville, North Carolina), Guettler, and Hult. For complete results, please visit ActionSportsTour.com.
Tomorrow night 18 more men, including last year’s second and third place finishers, Austin Coleman (Los Angeles, Calif.), and TJ. Ellis (Moreno Valley, Calif.), will compete, as well as Cory Nastazio (Flushing, New York), Mike Spinner (Greenville, North Carolina), and Koji Kraft (Addison, Illinois), all looking to advance to finals on Friday.
Rochester, NH Skate Park Grand Opening
Rochester, NH Skate Park Grand Opening
For people who don’t have a local skate park it’s a fantasy that sometimes takes countless hours spent convincing lawmakers that it’s a good idea, then it takes budgeting and thousands upon thousands of dollars to actually get it built years down the road.
For the BMX and Skaters of Rochester NH all it took was some inspiration from one of their own. June of 2008 Athlete Recovery Fund was just getting started with its first year as a nonprofit. Through the www.athleterecoveryfund.com website we received a note from a mother who had a young son that was struggling through chemotherapy treatments. He had been diagnosed with Leukemia and was looking forward to three years of treatment. For this mother she knew her son’s only outlet and joy was in riding his BMX bike. Unfortunately all her funds had to be spent on out of state treatment and necessities.
Since Athlete Recovery Fund (ARF), was established to only assist professionals in BMX, Skate and FMX there was nothing we could do, yet…A few months later the phone rang at ARF and it was Mountain Dew with an offer to give us a park setup that they used for a weekend event in New York! Instantly I thought back to the young guy in New Hampshire and I thought maybe we can not only give him a reason to fight through the tough times but also give him a place to ride!
A couple of phone calls later to the City Recreation Department and ARF met Art Jacobs. “The city had been getting requests from the local youth who wanted a skate park and Aaron Cooke at Athlete Recovery Fund called me with an awesome offer. This park fills a huge void for the youth in our community”.
With the help of Mountain Dew the park was transported on two semi trucks from NY to NH and stored for the winter. When the plans to build the park came together ARF called on NH native and BMX Pro Josh Heino to help with the assembly. In 2008 ARF had assisted Josh with expenses that came from a severe injury he suffered in Cleveland. Josh assembled a crew of guys capable of rebuilding the park and a new Skatelite surface was ordered to cover the entire park.
July 25th 2009 the park was opened to the public! Local skaters and BMXers came out to ride for the first time and the guest of honor Jimmy Cook, a young man battling Leukemia, attended the event and was the first to drop in! Haro Bicycles and the local bicycle shop Philbrick’s even set him up with a fresh new Premium “Four Carat” bike and helmet!
ARF would like to thank Mountain Dew, Art Jacobs and the city of Rochester, Woodward Camp, Josh Heino and crew and all the volunteers for their effort to build the park in its new location. This is something that we are not designed to accomplish and all the pieces of the puzzle just fell into place making it a reality. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and it gives me tons of pride that this park will be open to the public for many years to come. We would like to welcome anyone in the area to visit the “Jimmy Cook Action Sports Park” and enjoy what we were able to be a part of. Please continue to support the Athlete Recovery Fund at www.athleterecoveryfund.com
Addison Sasso on Morphine Industries
Coral Springs, Florida, June 26, 2009 - Morphine Industries signs Addison Sasso to Street/Park/Dirt Crew. Addison got our attention through Morphine Industries’ Guru and Crew T.M., Marlowe Buelvas. “I have been riding with Addison for a while and have watched him shred everything in site. He needed to get hooked up with a company that would get behind his riding and help him blow-up”, tells Buelvas. “Addison has always been riding busted up bikes/parts due to his “go-for” it approach, like his 17 step bar-spin bomb drop, so I though he would be a great fit with Morphine Industries.”
“We are stoked to work with Addison on new parts as we make a big push into the Street/Park/Dirt market. He is a great rider with a fearless style of riding that is evident from his recent exposure in Ride, Props 72, Banned 3 and Sunshine Sports Channel.” continues Buelvas.
“The Morphine Industries’ guys have been great and I’m juiced to be riding their parts and look forward to repping them in the streets”, adds Sasso.
“Addison is a great plus to the Morphine Industries family. We have a lot of badass riders that kill it on the dirt track and we are now lucky to haveAddison that kills it in the street.” remarks Reeves, Morphine Industries founder.
Addison is from Miami but currently riding out of the Ocala/Orlando area.
Addison will also get support and products from our other great team sponsors such as Alienation rims, hubs, grips, seat and seatpost, Tioga tires, Rennen gears, and Lost Energy Drink.

Interbike Launches Revamped Web Site
The new design of Interbike.com highlights and expands on the site's most-used features, and includes resources to help attendees manage time at the show
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. - June 30, 2009 - Interbike today announced the launch of its revamped website, which includes expanded exhibitor resources, enhanced attendee show planning features and resources for the entire cycling industry.
The website has been launched with three months to go before the bicycle industry's largest gathering in North America, the 2009 OutDoor Demo in Boulder City, Nev., September 21-22 followed by the Interbike International Bicycle Expo at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, September 23-25.
"The new Interbike website is much more than a needed face lift - it truly enhances the user experience," said Rich Kelly, Interbike marketing manager. "Primary goals of the redesign were to make the most widely used features easier to find and to provide richer and more in-depth exhibitor information and show planning tools so retailers can make the most of their time before, during and after Interbike. We also wanted to better integrate our social media efforts with our main website for a more interactive and community oriented experience."
Interbike's website now uses a contemporary design to highlight its most used features such as the newly enhanced exhibitor floorplan and directory, the events schedule and industry news. The homepage's Product Showcase gallery links directly to the searchable Product Showcase itself, which features details of innovative products exhibitors will be debuting at this year's show.
The Product Showcase and the enhanced exhibitor directory and floor mapping are part of the show's new "Interbike Planner" tool. Exhibitors will be able to upload and enter detailed information about their company and offerings including photos, video and show specials retailers will be able to view while preparing for the show.
In addition, the revamped Interbike.com expands the cycling industry's social networking with links to Interbike's Twitter feed, Facebook page, Flickr account and YouTube channel. The Interbike Times blog is also prominently integrated into its homepage, along with news content from Bicycle Retailer & Industry News and news feeds from online bicycle news sites and advocacy partners. These homepage features make Interbike.com a central location for key cycling industry news, information and social networking resources.
New planning features on the Interbike website include:
* A richer and more dynamic exhibitor directory
* Enhanced exhibitor profiles with capability to include more company information, product information, images and video
* Easier-to-use interactive floorplan map
* A mobile phone optimized version of the website to allow easy access to the exhibitor directory and schedule from the show floor
Interbike has also expanded its online attendee resources to include a:
* Password-protected area for attendees only
* Detailed show planner to schedule and keep track of appointments, seminars and other events
* Match-making system to help buyers find exhibitors offering products of interest to them.
Online retail attendee registration has been open since May. With today's re-launch of Interbike.com, online exhibitor registration for Interbike 2009 is officially open as well. To register, please go to the Interbike 2009 Registration page. Registration is free to qualified buyers through August 19, 2009.

Jack Olson took the title in the skate park competition on Sunday, beating out 66 other skaters to advance to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals.
Twenty one-year-old Larrin from Racine, Wis. earned the BMX park victory at 4 Seasons Skatepark on Saturday after landing a double tailwhip and a backflip during his winning run. Corey Ellis was second and Nick Baner finished in third place.
“I really had an awesome time at the contest today,” Larrin said. “I really appreciate 4 Seasons holding BMX riders down and sticking with us for so many years. Looking forward to getting to Salt Lake City and continuing the fun.”
In Sunday’s skate park action, 14-year-old Olson from St. Louis Park, Minn. executed a front feeble down the big rail and switch boardslide 270 during the final jam session to claim the victory in the competition. Andre Colbert took second place and Nathan Morley rounded out the top three.
Olson is a two-time finalist on the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, also winning the Des Moines, Iowa event last year.
“It was fun skating all the Gatorade Free Flow Tour stops so far,” Olson said. “I’m really psyched to go to Salt Lake City.”
“The Gatorade Free Flow Tour gives local shredder a platform to take it to the next level,” Neal Levin, owner of 4 Seasons, said. “We’re proud to have 4 Seasons be a part of it.”

Helping Stephen Murray Stay Strong & March Forth
HELPING BMX STAR STEPHEN MURRAY STAY STRONG AND MARCH FORTH!
Action sports street-wear company March Forth steps up to the plate to help raise money for the Stay Strong Stephen Murray foundation and remind everyone to Stay Strong and March Forth!
Los Angeles, California-- The March Forth Supply Company has collaborated with the Stay Strong for Stephen Murray foundation this month to help raise money for paralyzed BMX super star Stephen Murray. The Limited Edition “March Forth, Stay Strong” for Stephen Murray graphic tee will be issued this week to promote a positive way of life and serve as a reminder to March Forth and Stay Strong! A portion of the proceeds will go to the Stephen Murray foundation.
March Forth Supply Co. started in 2003 as an apparel-driven reminder to focus on your dreams, and move forward with what you are most passionate about in life. “This is a perfect opportunity to help out in the community and industry with our positive message” says owner and founder Wes DeSoto. With offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Baltimore, March Forth sponsors athletes in Bmx, Surf, Skate, as well as bands and local artists. Serving as inspiration and a solid cornerstone in the action sports lifestyle.
Helping people find inspiration and motivation can sometimes be a difficult task. Heading into the 2007 Dew Action Sports Tour, former BMX dirt jumping star Stephen Murray’s back was against the wall. After setting the action sports world ablaze in 2001 with his gold medal-winning performance at the X-Games, his career lost momentum. As the bills piled up, Murray sought to reverse his fortunes with a huge performance in June 2007, only to suffer a catastrophic accident that left him a quadriplegic. Read more on Stephens Murray at www.staystrongapparel.com.
March Forth Supply Company will be accompanying Stay Strong Apparel next week at the first Dew Tour BMX event in Chicago on June 26 and 27 and will be releasing the tee for purchase at the Stay Strong vendor booth. This First Dew Tour Event Marks 2 years from when Stephens Crash First happened. The tee will also be available for purchased online at the March Forth website: www.MF34.com. Other supporters that will carry the tee are DansComp www.danscomp.com , 5050 BMX www.5050bmx.com , and Suburban Shred www.suburbanshred.com.

BMX Worlds 2009 - July 10-12
BMX Worlds 2009
presented by ROCKSTAR Energy Drink
presented by ROCKSTAR Energy Drink
Get Together of BMX-Generations!
At the BMX Worlds presented by ROCKSTAR Energy Drink taking place at the Jugendpark Cologne July 10th-12th, three generations of BMX riders will compete head-to-head for the championship title. Among those, top pro's hailing from over 30 different nations all across the globe.
Düsseldorf/Cologne June, 19th 2009 For the better part of a quarter of a century of BMX history, the Jugendpark Cologne and the sport BMX have been the perfect match for each other. Many of this year's contestants weren't even born when the first BMX contest took place at the Jugendpark Köln in 1984. This year's line-up represents the cream of the crop of finest BMX riding. Whether young guns, established pro's or seasoned veterans, with a line-up like this anything is possible.
Next to the top-athletes from the ROCKSTAR Team, Ryan Nyquist, Dennis Enarson, Josh Harrington, Cory Nastazio, Rob Darden (all USA),Alistair Whitton, Ben Wallace (both UK), Colin Mackay and Luke Parslow (both AUS), there is also Daniel Dhers (VEN), Mark Webb, Harry Main, Zach Shaw (all UK), Ricardo Laguna (USA) and Adam Kun (HUN), who will make each of the 5 disciplines a thrilling mixture of atheltic showmanship and skill.
Especially exciting, however, is the fact this year's vert contest is packed with athletes of only the best kind. With Jamie Bestwick, we have one of the most successful X-Games participants of the last years, who made it across the big pond for this year's Worlds. Bestwick, who moved from the UK to the USA, will surely know how to keep it exciting between him and Simon Tabron (UK), who is also going for the title. Joining the list of aspiring world champions is Francisco „Coco" Zurita from Chile (2nd place at the BMX 2008) and Vert maniac Ben Snowden (USA). All fans of BMX Vert action, beware!
But not to forget, the girls want the title just as much. We have over 20 female riders competing in 2 disciplines, Park and Flatland. Corey Coffey (USA), Irina Sadovnik (AT) and Rebecca Berg (GER) are top notch, when it comes to international female BMX riding.
Last not least, legendary 80's Haro Freestyle team will deliver one of their furious performances. Especially among older BMX fans, Ron Wilkerson, Brian Blyther and Dave Nourie enjoy as 'special status' as BMX's old school elite.
Mike Dominguez's guest appearance will put a smile on the face of Bob Haro, founder of the team and BMX freestyle icon. And just like Bob, do yourself a favor and don't miss the show!

Big in Bavaria Contest Info
BMX stars from all over the world going
BIG IN BAVARIA
Munich, Germany, June 5th 2009 – Corey Bohan, James Foster, Ryan Guettler, Dave Dillewaard, Luke Parslow, TJ Ellis or Cameron White - The biggest names in the business confirmed their attendance at the BIG IN BAVARIA dirt jump comp in Munichon July 24th and 25th. This one of a kind dirt event showcases X-Games, Red Bull Elevation and Dew Tour winners and therefore can claim to be one of the best European dirt jump contests in the season 2009.
The Colombian rider Alejandro Caro already promised to “pull it as hard as he can”. Dave Dillewaard from Australia said almost the same, but also pointed out that he especially can’t wait to enjoy the luscious Bavarian beer in the evening. Rob Darden, American BMX pro who placed 3rd at the X Games 2008, can’t wait to have his big time in Bavaria, too: “I am looking forward to some good times with some great friends while getting loose on our bikes and taking in new parts of the world.“
The current BIG IN BAVARIA list of riders features not only some of Rob’s great friends, but also the who’s who of world’s best BMX riders in general:
Name (Nation/Team)
Cameron White (AUS/Mongoose)
Corey Bohan (AUS/Giant)
Dave Dillewaard (AUS/GT)
Luke Parslow (AUS/Forgotten Bikes)
Ryan Guettler (AUS/MirraCo )
Alejandro Caro (COL/wethepeople)
Alex Dropsy (FRA/Twenty)
Nicolas Bertier (FRA/Dragonfly)
Patrick Guimez (FRA/Koxx)
Romuald Noirot (FRA/MacNeil)
Ben Hennon (GBR/Seventies)
Markus Hampl (GER/Twenty)
Chris Doyle (USA/Kink Bikes)
James Foster (USA/KHE)
Mike Clark (USA/Redline)
Rob Darden (USA/Haro)
TJ Ellis (USA/Bulldog Bikes)
But the BIG IN BAVARIA is not only about the most important names in BMX. Also the dirt jumps are about to beat most of the things ever seen before. The head of course construction – BMX pro Markus Hampl – uses over 2.000 tons of dirt for 180 meters (about 200 yards) of pure riding pleasure. The course building starts in the beginning of June and the shapers will sweat for almost a month. The eight meters (about 25 feet) high wooden starting tower provides the proper speed you need for the huge doubles. Some sections of the BIG IN BAVARIA track feature two parallel dirt lines, which enable the riders to take challenging transfers. Due to an overall prize money fund of 20.000 Euros, hard battles between the riders as well as lots of airtime, the craziest tricks and the sickest combos are guaranteed.
For all the details of the BIG IN BAVARIA as well as riders’ profiles, please take a look on:www.myspace.com/biginbavaria.
