okay people, just because the CHEAP mongooses are sold at walmart doent mean all mongooses are junk, remember, the cheaper the bike, the lower quality of parts. i would not mind getting this bike besides the 700 price tag, cut mongoose some slack! im sure this bikes is mmade very well, and has good parts on it. i for now have a mongoose hoop'd, its a okay walmart bike, i got it 2 yearrs ago wel i was 12 cause i didnt know anything about bikes, but now i do and im looking at the mongoose thrive, i dont have a problem with the bikes, exept on my hoop'd i replace the brake cable, the rear tire cause i locked up the brakes goin down a hill, i bent the sprocket from treating it badly but i fixed it, and the crank twisted cause its only a one piece but who cares im geeting a new bike and hopefully, its the Mongoose Thrive

(Add your own)The only way to know for sure is to own one.
I own it..its a great bike..Worth every dollar..
Don't expect it to ride like $1500 bike and you'll be pretty happy.
I'm putting a new fork and pedals on it..so for less than $70 I just took 2 1/2 lbs off it..Now it'll be a solid indestructible 26 lbs or less..oh I took the gyro stuff off..Soon to go brakeless..

it is a pacific, and the frame was probably done by Fuji frame. If you get that Mongoose look at it real close to make sure its all welded together straight. Look at the dropouts and back triangle, brake mounts, and bottom bracket. Line the wheels real straight and just look for problems. The frames are usually fuct up.

MADISON, Wis., (March 14, 2003) – Pacific Cycle, maker of Schwinn, GT and Mongoose bikes, is continuing its expansion in the recreation and fitness category with the acquisition of Minnesota-based InSTEP, the nation’s leading producer of jogging strollers and bicycle trailers. The deal was finalized today for an undisclosed amount. As a manufacturer of products for active families, InSTEP will add a wide range of recreation products to Pacific’s already growing brand portfolio. Pacific recently expanded its three power brands -- Schwinn, GT and Mongoose – into in-line skates, skateboards and recreational clothing, and InSTEP has been a key licensee in executing that strategy. Now InSTEP will enable Pacific to add a host of other products to its portfolio, including jogging and convenience strollers, infant frame carriers , travel beds, bicycle trailers, massage tables, push golf carts, outdoor furniture, watercraft carriers, snowshoes and recreational gasoline pumps. Pacific Cycle, LLC, established in 1983, is the nation’s largest importer of quality bicycles. It designs, markets and imports a full range of bicycles and fitness products under the brand names of Schwinn, GT, Mongoose, Mongoose Pro, Pacific, Roadmaster, and Dyno. Roadmaster? Really? At least they do pay their riders. Can someone tell me if your on the team and you do not like the bike, do you have an option of riding one of their jogging and/or convenience strollers, infant frame carriers , travel beds, bicycle trailers, massage tables, push golf carts, outdoor furniture, watercraft carriers, snowshoes and recreational gasoline pumps, in-line skates, skateboards and/or recreational clothing? Or is that not part of their "strategy? Just put a Pacific sticker on the dang thing! The bike, not the stroller.
