Superstar Prototype Cranks
Superstar just got in these prototyle cranks. Here's a statement about them:"One year after the first drawing, the Superstar crank prototype is alive. We have 5 sets ready for long time testing. This crank is 100 % in-house engineered, with exclusive and innovative axle interface. We can't show you the interface yet. We still need to keep it secret while testing. Snow will not meld before spring 2010. Be patient... As any modern crank, it is fully heat treated after welding, it is right and left side compatible and its weight will keep it in the Top 3 lightest BMX cranks. A featherweight crank is not our goal. We want a reliable and long lasting crank which can eventually be light."

well they obviously arent the same cranks, but the spindle idea might be very similar, why else would they cover it up? and this idea has already been used before with other bikes, so there's a chance that it will work.

I dont see how a spindle with a broken seam in the middle will hold up....perfect allignment would be practically impossible...think about the tremendous weight force that is applied each time you pedal...maybe im just dumb but its not gonna hold up nearly as well as a solid spindle

If you think about integrated bearings, obviously it can't be long lasting. The bearings are supposed to be easy replaceble. More than that, it would create another bb pattern.

I know what it looks like. It's a one piece design with integrated bearings. LOL

Looks like Superstar has the right idea here. Regardless of how much testing goes into a product, the first generation WILL have flaws. Good on Superstar to not focus too much on weight for the first generation.
