Eastern cut out places in the frame where strength is not an issue. The Grim Reaper has an integrated seat clamp with a titanium bolt. Removable gyro tabs and an internal headset are included. Eastern has also added some plastic inserts for those worried about getting dirt in the frame.

    "this frame is awesome"

    Rating:

The Good: light, great geometry, holds up, 20in tt good for park, street, and flatland

The Bad: sometimes i get dirt in my bb

Overall Review: I have a 20in tt version 2 and love it! i ride mostly park and flatland so this frame makes for a great hybrid bike. super light and holds up to what I throw at it. the geometry is spot on for me. i don't think i'll ever ride a different frame!

    "So what's it for then?"

    Rating:

The Good: I had an 06 Dragon and loved it....

The Bad: But what type of riding was this intended for? What's the rider weight limit? I personally would not buy or ride something so over done with "weight savings". Come a long way since the Hercules.

Overall Review: No I did not ride this, but giving an outsiders opinion. I'd by another Eastern. Hell maybe even another old Dragon. Eastern is still the shit!

"$100 porsche come and get it."

    Rating:

The Good: great balance of weight and strength

    The Bad: not for everyone

Overall Review: Normally, I will refrain from posting on reviews and forums for my own products, but for bmxlos I gotta say this.. dude, you bought the frame for 10 bucks.. only the devil knows what that frame went through before you had it. That's like buying a $100 Porsche and saying it sucks cause the engine was blown or the body was rusted out. We have never said this frame was for everyone.. it's not. It is an awesome frame for what it was meant to be. It is a balance of weight and strength. I'll buy the damn thing back for $10 just to keep an old horse off the street. "I dont like eastern ."

    Rating:

The Good: its pretty cool that i only got this frame for $10 from this kid that didn't even know nothing about bikes . I snapped my frame so this was the only frame that was for sale . and for Jon byers to you - this kid bearly bought this frame and was new when i qot it , Eastern isn't bad .

The Bad: i've been riding this frame about a year now and there's been trouble on my frame . i did a 360 on flat ground and all the sudden the top tube gets a dent . Then i grinded and now my frame is bended from the back. This frame sucks ! I snapped this frame already damm that fast ha !

Overall Review: This frame is strong but won't last long and plus the paint sucks ! My frame lost its color . But its better for those that are begginers.

    "I Love Haters"

    Rating:

The Good: It's light, lighter then a lot of other frames out there

The Bad: If you ride it like it's a 6 pound Warpig and forget it's a 4 pound frame with holes in it, you're in for trouble

Overall Review: Pay attention to what you buy kids, even if a gucci "high end" company like S&M made a full supertherm frame that weighed in at 4 pounds with holes cut in it, it would have the same problems. Don't set a double standard. If you grind, you have the risk of bending a drop out... it's not rocket science. If you whack shit against other shit one of the shits will bend/crack.

    "Eastern Grim Reaper"

    Rating:

The Good: This frame really brought along progression in other bike companies to lighten up their frames.
    Decent geometry

The Bad: Too many off the wall cutouts to save minimal weight,
Frame material is far less superior to other brands such as True Temper
    Dents fairly easily
Dropouts bend much easier then they should
    Cheap overall feel to it

Overall Review: I had a friend who traded a Fit Hawk V1 for a fairly good shape Eastern Grim reaper that was lightly ridden minus some very small dings here and there.

He traded because the Grim Reaper was 21 inch toptube and the Hawk v1 was 20.5. I rode with my friend alot and witnessed what that frame went through. An american made frame would have endured the abuse much better then the Grim Reaper did.It dented pretty easily,Almost as if the material was softer then any chromoly tubing i have ever seen.

My friend grinds on the left side and is experienced at grinding,But the dropout bent so bad that we had to take a wrench and bend the dropout back and kick the back wheel off because the dropout crushed onto the axle smashing in inner threads.

In my 10+ years of riding bmx i have never seen a drop out do that before. We were scratching our heads as to why it would be so weak and bend like that.If you have an oppertunity to buy this frame even at a discount or cheap i would pass on it,Unless you are a very lightweight rider who doesn't grind then you might be ok to ride it.

Eastern has stepped up supposedly with a completely revamped version of the Grim reaper called the Grim reaper eternal.Hopefully they made some drastic changes.Because someone spending 350 should expect high quality,Not quality you would see on a low end complete frame. 2 of 5 stars

    "good frame while it lasted"

    Rating:

The Good: I had this frame for a year and it was running well, good geo and very light!

The Bad: after a year of use, it cracked on the top of the down tube near the bb, it cracked on landing a hop bars as well..... not the hardest landing possible

Overall Review: the grim reaper is a good frame and is very nice to ride but i think with it being so light it looses a bit of strength

    "Super lite frame"

    Rating:

The Good: One of the lightest frames that is can be used for street riding.

The Bad: Some crack on the top tube. (but that is want the warranty is for)

Overall Review: Eastern rules. All this little kids buy them and don't take care of them. And then they give bad reviews. Stop giving Eastern a bad name, it is one of the top names in BMX. So quit hating!
