What stem is that skuba? Looks like it has an awesome amount of rise.
The color on that indust is rad!
Exactly, companies like alienation dont give 2 shits about some random dudes in texas building a few frames, they are however willing to get behind a MAINSTREAM american company like s&m
Factions look dialed and SHOULD be available in less than a month, S&M's mainline tires and revenge welded rims are only a few months behind those. The market is still new, and there needs to be a lot more interest in it before other companies jump ... more »
Theyre a ways out, mid 2013
I shot indust a message this morning trying to get the specs on their frame, how does yours handle in comparison to the holmes?
Has anyone out there ridden both length Holmes frames yet? I'm curious if the new 22"tt feels noticably longer than the first run. Oh and the holmes is finally back up on the customs page!
When I was initially looking into building a custom holmes I looked all over the net on how bottom bracket height and seat tube angles affect ridability and everything I read said the same.
"Seat tube angle: The seat tube angle also changes the front end room of you bike, the steeper the seat tube angle the farther back the bottom bracket will be creating more room for the rider (while standing), although the seat will be further forward." ... more »
Considering a rider stays stationary over the bottom bracket and the top tube length itself doent change, a slack st angle essentially brings the head tube closer to the rider making the frame "feel" shorter.
@NOSGOD my Pittsburgh bike that I ride when I visit my parents (dont have to worry about traveling with mine) is a 22"tt DK R/T, you can find those fairly cheap on craigslist. Next to my custom, it was definitely the best 20" frame I've ridden. Macneils ... more »
"Early spring for the rims, and late spring for the tires Jay Skwarlo | Domestic Product Development and Purchasing | jay@sandmbikes.com" I'm just impatient and will HOPEFULLY be able to get Factions in a few weeks, and I'd like to see how the bottom ... more »
@NOSGOD I'm and inch shorter than you, and currently running a 22"tt custom standard frame with 9.5" bars, and although its the most comfortable 20" I've ever ridden, I too would like to go bigger. The Holmes felt quite comfortable and I did dig the ... more »
Dont get me wrong, I'm right there with you, as soon as the F22's make it to Faction I'll be air freighting an Amero kit my way.
^ agreed, I clearly see the flakeyness you spoke of previously in this thread
Faction update, the US shipment was never actually on its way...it is being held up until the foldable tires arrive so that they can all ship together. Unfortunately that won't be until sometime next month. A custom holmes is looking more and more appealing, ... more »
Another disadvantage to the Amero is that the max size sprocket that can be run is a 26t, and the hub comes w a 10t driver. Coming from 28/9 on my 20", im def gonna have to swap that rear driver or hub altogether. On the s&m side of the 22" evolution, ... more »
I have all the parts ready to go! Just waiting for the cargo ship to reach texas and send one my way!
2 best sets of bars ive run lately are subrosa villicus 9.5" and kink human 8.75" which are on sale at dans right now, I just picked up another pair for the 22" faction im building and they were 49 + 15% off w free shipping. Im 6'4" so these may be on ... more »
Faction store is finally up and running, and the geometry finally dropped, looks pretty close to the holmes. Amero Weight: 5.1 lbs HT 74.5*, ST 71*, TT 21.5”, CS 14.25” (14” slammed), BB height 12.5” Stand over height: 9” Holmes TT21.5", 22" REAR END ... more »
