Added reply in a thread Buying a used custom BMX, good deal? 6/5/2020 9:34 AM

If you go check it out and have a go on it maybe you can see how it feels for you. The taller bars and longer TT will probably fit you better. But taller bars on yours might just as well be the ticket too. I'm your size and the bike I first starting ... more »

Added reply in a thread How long did it take to bunny hop high for you? 6/5/2020 9:22 AM

I was up to about 15-17" approx. after about 4-5 months. But that's only if not actually going over anything. Highest I've hopped over an obstacle was 12". I'm laid up with kidney stones right now and I'm thinking I'm gonna need to learn all over again. ... more »

Added reply in a thread So, BlackSwampGhost, you doing any flatlandish type tricks yet? 6/5/2020 8:59 AM

Heck yeah MEGA SPIN!!! That was great. I started to work on those before I got laid up. I'm putting together a cheap BMX to ride around sometimes for fun and have these two pegs that will only fit on the back. The front axle is super small. So I'm gonna ... more »

It's funny how so many of us were sparked to get back into it cuz of kids. Very cool.

Not sure why no one responded and I'm not going to be much help. My take is that almost everything is better now a days given you're comparing apples to apples quality. But for sure race bikes are made to be light. I don't really know much about what ... more »

Wow, very cool. I'm not really sure who would make "gold" pegs. What are you wanting the pegs for? If you want them for standing and flatland type tricks, flatlandfuel.com might be a good place to work. I'm pretty sure someone makes Gold ones though, ... more »

Added reply in a thread What'd you do to your bike today? 6/1/2020 1:27 PM

Yeah that's a nice set up and the bolts do look good. I adjusted my spokes on my rear and trued both of them the other day. Not exactly perfect but close enough for me. Some of the spokes were pretty darn loose. Which is interesting cuz I tightened them ... more »

True, But I don't know how anybody keeps a wallet in their backpocket. I mean when I was a young man with like 1 card and a few bucks in my Velcro wallet that was pretty flat. But now the thing is like 2" thick. I got one of those trifold and put it ... more »

Yeah just put that issue behind you. No probs with the head tube. Just enjoy and ride. You're gonna make scratches too. Well I would imagine you will. LOL. I bought mine used but it was pristine. And after I've scratched it up some part of me is bummed ... more »

Thank you. I know it's not high in comparison to these whippersnappers but it's a heck of a lot higher than I imagined I could do when I first started in December. I don't think I will get much higher though. Plus like I said my energies are being more

Added reply in a thread Uneven gap between dustcap and head tube (photo) 5/29/2020 8:58 AM

I'm no expert but I'm old enough and have worked on bikes and such to say that, I think it's probably just a normal tolerance imperfection. I think if you give your bike a once over you might find other issues that aren't exactly square or perfect. I ... more »

And BTW, I got a lot of Irish in me. So does Mishinn Control. Another guy on here who I bought my bike from. I haven't seen him post too much but he's a veteran of the sport and knows a lot about stuff. I figured if the bike was good enough for him it

I'm not an Eastern fanboy so I get the skepticism. I heard they had a period where they sold like low end bikes and then they were breaking a lot. I don't ride mine hard enough to know but I think they upped their game. They have a few pros that ride

Added reply in a thread First bmx 5/28/2020 8:33 AM

I'd ride that. I'm sure it's just a matter of how heavy you are and how hard you're gonna ride it. You can always buy a new frame if you bust it. But my guess is you'll be fine. At least for a while. Congrats!!!!!

Added reply in a thread Returning to bmx 5/28/2020 8:21 AM

Now you know a heck of a lot more than I do and I totally understand why you'd want 21". But out of curiosity, do you think it's possible taller bars would help with your old bike? I'm trying to remember off the top of my head what bikes were all 21" ... more »

Call Cult with the serial number and they can tell you what size it is. If you measure the top tube from the middle of the seat tube to the middle of the head tube, you should have the right measurement. But I would imagine Cult could tell you the exact ... more »

I guess the alternative is do nothing to try and protect your body from hard stuff but you may end up with some other issue anyways... So... My rib is starting to feel stronger and less affected from using my core. Less pain, on the mend, looking up. ... more »
