Added reply in a thread I did it, man! I 180'd! 7/4/2018 10:54 AM

Thanks, bro. I actually found nailing the 180 more difficult than the fakie, but I think that had more to do with the bike looping out on the turn once the bike was about to go airborne, ergo it instilled some fear in me. My mistake was I was snapping ... more »

I'm so happy right now.

Okay granted, not the prettiest, not the highest and I didn't fakie out until my third attempt, but I bloody did it and it felt so cool! Only downside to this tale is after a few more goes I twanged my back injury from ... more »

Added reply in a thread Injury of the day... 6/30/2018 3:31 AM

Embarrassing, but I looped out practicing manuals. Felt the bike go, but my old fogey brain didn't kick in and so I didn't jump off of the pedals. Landed on my back with quite a crunch. Knocked the wind out of myself and at first I thought I'd cracked ... more »

I roared with laughter at your username. Shared it with a friend in the pub who swiftly reminded me that as I've two daughters that might be something I hear one day... My laughter quickly died. LOL

I'm 5.8 and my bike came with stock DB bars with an 8.5 rise, which while okay I did find myself a little hunched and turning somewhat snappy. I upgraded to S&M Hoder 9.5 and they're much better for comfort and control.

Definitely getting a little more air with my bunny hops now. Enough that I can turn the bars and slip in a slight lean, giving the hop a bit more style. Small progress, but progress nonetheless so happy with that.

Thanks for the vids. I guess it's only natural to put your hands out when bailing, and I did slightly hurt my wrist a week back doing so. There's a few grassy areas where I live with enough room to practice crashing.

Once again, thanks for the kind replies folks. A cool place you got here, and a refreshing change from the toxic environments of video game and movie sites I've ventured into in the past.

Added reply in a thread Noob question about brakes 6/26/2018 12:05 PM

I did try it the other way around, but it didn't feel as natural as being on the left so I swapped it back and that's where it will stay. Gotta try these things.

Ah, cool. Thanks very much. I did wonder for the life of me what difference it actually made. lol

Okay I've no doubt you've had this question thrown at you a thousand times, but is there really 'right way' to have ones brakes set up? Naturally I've no front brake, but I'm riding the rear brake lever on the left and so far am comfortable with it. ... more »

Well I've taken you fine folks advice and have been riding my bike as much as I can, including to and from work each day, to really get a feel for it. On my little trips out, (and those quieter parts of the journey home from work), I've been bunny hoping

After being caught out in one of those monstrous, but brief summer rain falls I simply cleaned mine and then tightened the crank after noting it had come a little loose, which also gave me an opportunity to check the bearings which are all fine and dandy. ... more »

Hi, Steve, first thanks for the reply. I live in Cheltenham. The only other BMXer I personally know, who is in his late 20's, is a guy I work with and he's been doing it for some years. Like yourself, however, as much as he tries to throw advice my way ... more »

Seems bike control is the number one advice here, with the ability to ride a bike clearly not being enough. We've one of our rare sunny weekends in the UK ahead of us tomorrow and my daughters have agreed to come out for a good old bike ride on Sunday, ... more »

Yep, Mishinn makes a sound argument about bike control, it wasn't even something I'd considered. I've only been riding again for a few weeks and perhaps I am trying run before I can walk. Everything is new, so I guess I need to slow down and really get
