Reply to Does Everyone True Their Wheels Every Month, or is it Just Me? 1/9/2020 12:54 AM

Whenever I say those magic words ('48 spoked wheels'), almost everybody thinks I'm talking about going back to huge flanged hubs and triple wall rims also. C'mon now, you should know better. Of course I'm talking about taking advantage of today's technology, ... more »

Reply to Does Everyone True Their Wheels Every Month, or is it Just Me? 1/6/2020 5:40 PM

It takes me some months too, but I have a 48 spoked wheel in the back. I wish more companies would go back to making 48s... Bonedeth knows what they're doing, the weight difference between a 36 and a 48 is minimal, almost laughable, since the strength ... more »

Reply to Shoes, do they matter? 5/16/2018 9:00 PM

Hell yes they matter! For me it's: - high tops, always! Or at the very least, mid tops.I'd rather ride high or mid tops and 'regular' shin pads than low-tops with those 'ankle-protection shin pads'... - a flat, grippy sole. Vans' are the best ever but ... more »

Reply to Companies that aren't what they used to be? 1/14/2018 11:51 PM

To me, these are the companies that once were on the top of the game but now they seem to have lost their momentum: * Hoffman - They used to be really big, but now 90% of their line is kind of mid-level. Still love them thought. * Flybikes - I remember ... more »

Reply to Worst Tricks 1/5/2018 10:51 PM

I also forgot to mention tricks like brakeless abubacas / fufanus and foot jams... what's the point of taking your brakes off and doing adapted brake-type tricks? I know I'm gonna get a lot of bombs for this but they look stupid, even foot jams! Add ... more »

Reply to Handlebar related accident 11/15/2017 10:20 PM

Once I was about to grind some concrete ledge down some stairs and I bunnyhopped way too much and my front peg landed 2 inches from the very end of it, and the peg stuck to the concrete, and since there was no more ledge left, the front wheel flipped ... more »

Reply to What shoes do you use for BMX? 11/1/2017 10:38 PM

the thing about vans is the damn 'made in china' thing. Years ago I had a Half Cab that was made in the USA, and they lasted an eternity, even riding and walking almost every day with them, one of the best shoes I EVER had! Fast forward 20 years and ... more »

seat / seatpost combos I won't ever own one of those. No adjustment, the post is always too short... Thanks but no thanks I also hate super short stems in general. Maybe it's the old school in me, or the trail rider in me, but I tried some of these 50-45 ... more »

Reply to Titanium... 10/15/2017 2:00 AM

Today's chromoly parts have been worked to near perfection, and what I mean is, why pay a lot more for a titanium part just to lose a bit of weight? Maybe a ti frame or handlebars have a considerable difference of weight next to chromoly ones, but on ... more »

By using odyssey's ghost pads on both counts (clear on black rims / black on chrome rims) I've almost never experienced too much noise. They already come with a 'toe-in' shape, making the front of the pad touch the rim before the middle and the back, ... more »

I ride a simple, but excellent odyssey springfield with clear ghost pads on a standard Sun Rhynolite XL black rim, and before I was riding the same brake but with black pads on a chrome rim, and in both cases they work awesome! And the lever is also ... more »

Reply to Most hated part on a bmx 3/16/2017 11:21 PM

I love the possibilities my rear brake brings to my riding but working on it is an absolute pain in the ass. But the most annoying thing ever on a bike is the chain, if it's perfect it's ok, but if one tiny piece 'decides' to stop working properly while ... more »

Well, first I wasn't implying anything, how could I know if you knew all about freewheels or not?, second, people still ride them, I know, but not for freestyle, and the racing guys ride the newer ones, with sealed bearings and 3 or 4 paws and better ... more »

Reply to F/C as cassette 3/5/2017 10:56 PM

I just wondered if I could have a cassette that, when you stop pelading, there would be no friction at all, like a freecoaster. Like this: when you pedal, cassette engagement, no slack. When you stop pedalling, the paws would immediately retract, just ... more »

I wouldn't say the Z coaster combines the two separately, since one of the thing they say is something like 'the Z coaster has the best of both worlds, the responsive engagement of a cassette and the ability to 'freecoast' when going fakie' so it is ... more »

In the beginning of bmx and for a long time, people rode freewheels, and even the good ones had only 2 paws. So if just one should brake, there was only one left to handle all the pedalling and to avoid crushing your teeth on the handlebar. When cassettes ... more »
