This might indeed be the first one done on a "real" ramp. Logan landed one to resi back in 2013: https://www.instagram.com/p/eRkhYnB7Fp/

Added reply in a thread What do you call these tricks? 1/9/2017 2:43 PM

Both these tricks are cashrolls with an extra 360 added by Godziek/Rogatkin or an extra 720 added by Williams. Since a cashroll is a 360 frontflip, then these tricks are 720 frontflip and 1080 frontflips, respectively. However, Rogatkin and Godziek don't ... more »

Warden did compete. He tried a flair bikeflip first run, crashed, and didn't ride again due to injury.

McCann isn't competing anymore. Kagy has been battling some injuries and may or may not be back in the future.

Tabron is killing it harder than ever. DMC can absolutely still deliver. Watch Mykel Larrin. He's...more

Sucks to see that the level of vert riding has gone down compared to where it was a few years ago: except for Bestwick throwing down some alley-oop 540 whips and frontflip flairs, noone else threw or landed their biggest bangers. And McCann, Kagy and Warden were not even part of the event.

Still, massive kudos to X-Games for not letting the sport die off completely.

Foster's "goofy" when it comes to tailwhips, so the first whip is oppo for him, then two regular whips.

Come to think of it, could this be the hardest trick that can be done on a huge-dirtjump / megaramp type of setup?

This looks so much better than park riding of today!

On a side note - when were alley-oop flairs first done? I always thought it's circa 2005-2006 (Dhers) but this video from 2004 already proves me wrong.

What you mean like Trey did to everyone else in every round? He refused to do anything big (he used to ride park all the time, he could have at least tried) and did loads of x up rides that no one was ever going to get first time. He played it like a bitch up too this point and got what he...more

It's not really a bikeflip. It's a one-handed tailwhip in which a rider generates momentum for the frame to come around by pulling the handlebars underneath him in a twisted near-horizontal way. He then makes the handlebars vertical, grabs them with another hand and gets the rest of tailwhip around.
Whole thing looks pretty unusual, for a goofy rider especially.

Added a comment about video Ryan Taylor - Double Flair 7/8/2014 3:58 PM

Kevin Robinson, obviously, did the first one. Then there were attempts by Jamie Bestwick and Chad Kagy at the Dew Tour. Haven't seen either of these land it. Kelly Bolton also sent one at Jomopro but he was far from landing it. Mark Webb did it in his edit but I didn't see him ride out so I assume he crashed. Kyle Baldock, Andrew Buckworth and Alex Coleborn have landed it on resi (each has a vid on Instagram).

So I guess Ryan Tailor is the first to land this trick and ride away on a non-resi non-vert ramp.

Perhaps I'm being too negative and overly nostalgic but I have mixed feelings about this year's edition of the X Games. Although it's nice to see a full set of BMX disciplines represented, some of the events felt nowhere near as good as they could and ... more »

Added a comment about video Ryan Williams - Frontflip Forward Bikeflip 1/21/2014 3:52 AM

It's not really a bike flip, as in a flip of the bike AND the handle bars. He never releases either of the grips, he just twists them 180 and back to make the frame spin around the handle bars in a vertical-ish axis , somewhat like the scooter kids do with the bri flips.

Frontflip front-bri-flip on a BMX is still crazy though.
