I have a first gen Eclat Pulse with the SDS system, and when it wore out, i bought bearings from Brefasco for like 10 bucks and a new driver from my lbs for like 40. runs like brand new and its years old and covered in grind marks

this. Kool Stop is the best by a long, long, long way. the classic Odysseys would come second, and ghost pads suck balls. in my mind, they're a part of the packaging that comes with Odyssey brakes, not real pads.

they're 2.1, and i honestly can't tell if you're trolling or not understanding that 2.1 IS the width

dammit im trying to make this serious, you`re not helping.

Added reply in a thread The new style 2/9/2015 2:14 PM

we can totally make this into a deep and meaningful retrospective on the BMX world`s tendency to recycle an old trend and call it cutting edge. This is an opportunity to look through Mark Twain`s theories on historic recurrence.

Added reply in a thread The new style 2/9/2015 11:50 AM

your "new style" is just people making their bikes look like they did in the '90s and calling it "retro-cool". it's good for riding, but not new. most of our styles are recycled from old styles. When Sunday Fundays were popular, they were just using ... more »

Added reply in a thread Sprocket Alignment Trouble 2/8/2015 8:54 AM

sounds maybe like a "correct spacer" issue but more like a worn spacer issue. the 15/16" bore in your sprocket and 19mm (or 22mm if you run big ones) diameter of the spindle are very precise. the tophat spacers takes a lot of force and can deform slightly, ... more »

i can respect that. admittedly i used electrical tape myself with very few problems before i got my job, and the problem is much more relevant to road bikes than bmx bikes. it's just a ghetto trick, and one people at my shop are wary of. i figure if ... more »

Added reply in a thread this is the part nobody talks about 2/7/2015 8:32 PM

electrical tape only works fine temporarily, and is fine on single wall rims (given enough layers and provided you dont twist the spoke nipples). the problem with it on double wall rims is the unsupported area of tape above the spoke holes. it stretches ... more »

put them back in your pants, kids.

Added reply in a thread this is the part nobody talks about 2/7/2015 5:30 PM

anything but this. do not do this. especially with double wall rims. electrical tape is designed to stretch. under pressure, it dips into the spoke holes and deforms. this can lead to cuts in the tape, which lead to cuts in the tubes. go to your lbs ... more »

yeah, i'm gonna stay right here in Canada. yeah, our prime minister is a boring bowl of oatmeal compared to your president, but free healthcare rocks. when i broke both arms, got 58 staples, 16 screws, and 4 plates, my final bill was under $150- 2 fiberglass ... more »

full crmo is important, sure. but also check how many of the bearings are sealed (headset, bb, f/r hubs). sealed bearings are hella important too so factor that in as much as chromoly content. just in terms of ride quality, my last 3 bikes have been ... more »

personally, i'm a WTP whore so i'd take the reason. in truth tho, im too lazy to look up the full specs, so just find the one that offers the most chromoly and sealed bearing sets for the money.

i remember i used to do that when i was a broke boy getting into bmx. i couldnt afford a proper bike so i bought a used beater. it didnt have a topcap so i'd use my buddy's, tighten the pinch bolts to hold it tight, then give him his topcap back. it ... more »
