Well it was about a year ago that I made another bike-check thread (http://www.vitalbmx.com/forums/Bike-Checks,27/Starting-to-get-close-to-my-ideal-ride,1305708), so much has changed (frame, tires etc) since that it's very different so am making a new

that must be the one I'm referring to, it's not a mm thick at any point, but the surface area and form of it seem entirely sufficient for even weight distribution from the dust cap's downward pressure into the headset bearing - is that not always there? ... more »
ugh I hate quill stems! but yes you're absolutely right, I'm going to take the pivotal screw out and clean & re-grease it, and really torque it down if it moves from where i've set it now, am really hoping that I can keep it going without clamp because ... more »
Yeah you'd think so right? At least *most* of the parts are interchangeable, def gotta give credit to the industry's progress the past two decades!!
Yeah it's not quite broken, but it was definitely cut in a terribly aggressive and uneven fashion! And while I actually am eyeing new plush seats, I have one and have already installed it, I couldn't handle the small seat moving even with tape it'd move,

This is the stump I'm working with:
I know I know, it's ghetto but I don't have a seatpost clamp because I swapped everything to a new frame, my old frame's was integrated so nothing to carry-over, I do have the animal pivotal wedge post but haven't put it on and unsure if I want to yet

I dunno, I'd swear that that spacer came from my black forks, from between the upper headset bearing and the notched spacer, beneath my dust cap (maybe it fit there, and I'd just been riding it wrong) It may also have come from between the fork's crown ... more »
cmc & grumpy steve, thanks a ton guys! I couldn't figure out why I didn't have *two* of them!!! Even if it didn't fit, I figured I should've had two leftover not one... So, when assembling the front-end, my nicer, tapered (United) forks had been

So I finally finished rawing and replacing the BB of a frame I'd gotten and I swapped all of my parts over, problem is that when I went to put the front end together, the lowest spacer above the top headset bearing would not fit, if I put it on it would ... more »

Thanks, I found that a combination of scrubbers (a smooth 'mr eraser' type sponge, and a stiff-bristled brush) with just water did the job enough for my tastes! Won't be doing this repeatedly though, this is more of a 1-time thing, I'm about to assemble ... more »
Yes, I'm I female because of aesthetic tastes, I wish I were as macho as you, I bet you don't even glance at the closet when you grab a shirt you just grab something right? When you bought your bike and they asked you what colorway you wanted, you said ... more »
Yeah having anything out of alignment on the bearing seems to crush it quick! When I blew these out, it happened in just a couple minutes of riding, I'd re-seated the driver improperly so when I tightened it it had all the pressure on just half the bearing's ... more »
Haha no, you're not weird (not for that reason, at least
) And it's got nothing to do with riding professionally, there's tons of people on shittier bikes than mine who can make look like I just took my training wheels off yesterday (of course), ...

Was a bit unsure which way to mount the Hoders, so just copied how justin spriet had his positioned lol (on this note, I noticed that his grips were twisted, like if you'd grabbed the grip and gave it an 'indian sunburn' motion, I wonder if that's something

Yeah I thought about it a bit and ended up going with 27.75", luckily my tile-cutter was able to go through the bars with little problem, then just a quick sanding of the rough edges, put the new Hoder grips on, and put it back together :D Very happy

Why such a drastic change? Did you just give a huge setup a chance and didn't like it? That's tall as hell! You'll probably lose close to an inch by doing that bar & stem swap though.
