Started new thread What pros ride 10/13/2016 10:12 AM

Hello, I know that's not really a useful metric, but I'm interested to know - for instance, I read a bike check of garrett reynolds and it says he rides 20.5" - unfortunately though, most bike-checks are written by non-enthusiasts and omit this type ... more »

Added reply in a thread Is there a 'control panel' where I can see if my threads/comments have gotten replies? 10/12/2016 7:07 AM

I saw that, but how would I know if there's any replies in my threads doesn't that just show my posts only? This site moves very slow for me, having to open each thread to check for updates sucks! I need to figure out how to un-block the email notification ... more »

Started new thread Is there a 'control panel' where I can see if my threads/comments have gotten replies? 10/11/2016 6:30 PM

I can find a way to see all of *my* posts, or *my* submitted threads, but is there some 'dashboard' where I can see which threads have gotten new replies? I feel dumb asking this because I'm sure it exists but I just cannot find it, like right now I ... more »

Started new thread 'Overhauling'/cleaning headset bearings? 10/11/2016 6:26 PM

So I got a used frame, the headset bearings spin very free and smooth, but look terrible - as far as I can tell, there's no way for me to inject grease into them - am guessing I cannot soak them in isopropyl to clean, and then just re-grease, right?

Added reply in a thread Is this frame worth salvaging? (BB bearings are wrecked and afraid bb may be too) 10/10/2016 7:48 AM

Hearing that type of thing (that KHE does that to intentionally stop you from using easy-to-source, common/standard types) is the type of thing that makes me completely 100% shun a company (for instance, apple - they force you to use proprietary stuff ... more »

Added reply in a thread Starting to get close to my ideal ride! 10/7/2016 10:24 AM

closer-up of the front, am really thinking the matte stem looks toooo matte especially against the chrome - Does anyone know methods for upping the sheen of a paint? Like, my frame was matte from teh factory, but over time the sweat, clothes ... more »

Ok, I know this isn't much but I have nobody to show my stuff to lol so this is my outlet!!

So my ody lincoln stem started pinching again, last time i used a belt sander to remove a mm or two from the stem's body, and it was fine for a while ... more »

[yes, I know they are not Cult bars, they just looked bar without a sticker and that one looked good there, hate all you want lol] They came out awesome and I did like them enough, but couldn't verify they were cromo - however it didn't matter ... more »
Added reply in a thread How to keep inside of frame dry (repeatedly hosing it while rawing) 10/7/2016 9:47 AM

Oh I was leaving it on for a very long time, but that container (pictured in the photo above) is like 2yrs old and almost empty, so since (i'd guess) the chemicals doing the stripping are probably solvents that evaporate, it's quite possible the stripper's ... more »

Got a new frame I'm rawing, this thing has enough visible rust *inside* the tubes that I hate getting water in it but have to to rinse stripper gel off...so far I've just been leaning the frame at various angles so water will drip out onto a towel (and

Thanks for that! Can anyone else vouch for this? It's been reco'd twice in this thread, to just carve grooves in the stem - it sounds like a good idea on one level but I've just never heard it and am hesitant to try anything i'm unsure of, not for the ... more »

So your stem was knurled- what stem is it? The grains-of-sand thing, is that your idea or did you learn it? I find it intriguing but I'm afraid it could work against the purpose here, if for no reason ... more »

Thanks that's good to know! I hadn't really checked around, this was a last-second thing as I'd sold them this frame a bit ago and I had no idea they'd destroyed the bearings (they had loose cranks for a bit - I'm guessing that's what caused the spindle ... more »

How hard is it to swap BB bearings around? Like, if both frames are mid BB's (my bike and this frame) is it practical for me to approach this thinking I can take my BB from my United frame to this, then back, if I don't want to stay with this one? I ... more »

Added reply in a thread Stem with no knurling - is this ridable? 9/30/2016 6:31 AM

You seem to misunderstand what the problem is (probably because I suck at conveying things sometimes) but it's *not* the bars, all 3 sets of bars I own have excellent knurling, the problem (what I thought was a problem) was the lack of knurling inside ... more »

Added reply in a thread Stem with no knurling - is this ridable? 9/30/2016 6:28 AM

Yeah I know what you mean, I'd constantly move my bars when I was trying to learn just where my ideal grip spot was, so was constantly clamping the shit out of it in spots very close to one another - when the stem is just-loose-enough to allow the bars ... more »
