Weird...this image popped up on my FB memories.

These are the grind boxes we made WAY back in the day. Turns out it was 9 years ago. We spent around 50 bucks. I had angle iron to add to them already. Angle is cheaper than a hardware/big box ... more »

Put the glass toward your leg and that minimizes bars smashing glass. I've clipped my phone in my pocket hundreds of times, and glass facing my leg protected it. The case got beat up but that is to be expected.

My yard is almost half an acre, the hurdle is convincing my wife it is necessary hahaaaha I figure I just add smaller stuff like that and then I can stack things neatly when not in use. I also figure if I built a mini or even a quarter, I could pretty ... more »

It's sad, as you grow up you learn pretty fast how shitty people can be. Best thing I have found is to live in a really small town. 1200 people. Been here 10 months, was in a smaller city in a quiet neighborhood against a pretty good sized city (like ... more »

Back in the day roommates and I built two-they were 24" wide, 8' long and about 18" tall. We had angle on the top. I made a rail and we had a little jib setup in the driveway/street. Now I just have a couple rails. I plan to build a couple wedges to ... more »

They've been doing the mask thing a LOT for DECADES when it comes to flu season, so it wasn't a huge change there. Not arguing either way, just a thing.

Take the wheel out and spin it by hand and see if that noise is gone. Sounds like a slight wobble of the tire/rim and buzzing frame. COULD be engaged JUST a little bit and the clutch is touching the clutch ring inside the hub (assuming KHE internals) ... more »

Jeans if cool enough outside, shorts if not. Sometimes I toss on the ole Bicycle Union kneepads and United shin guards. Sometimes gloves from Harbor Freight (4 bucks!) Helmet 100% of the time. Tshirt/hoodie/jacket depending on weather Shoes. Phone in ... more »

I can't tell if the asking for advice post is bogus. Hop high, level out, throw catch land. First ones always end up hop level throw land/catch around the same time or land first. Then do it like 6000 times. My favorite bar was from an 8 foot quarter ... more »

This is accurate. It will work without, you pop the upper headset cup out, put the plate on and put the cup back in. I have the same headset in my Klein MTB.

Can't answer the scene/culture side of it, but shops sell what sells. Meaning no one buys BMX from them, they aren't gonna load up on it. So support any that you find that has stuff OR can order it (most shops can do that and gladly will)

Could be a mid school era setup. DK offered the lightest headset that was press in for a while (I had it, it was like 2 oz or something silly). OP: Ask for any letters off the bottom Bracket area-photos etc. A serial number MIGHT help determine if it ... more »

Sometimes they name it a "pierced top tube" as well. Nyquist's Backtrails had it. Even the 20th Anniversary did it. Standard had/has it, and tons of other brands. Macniel did it too.

Measure one from the drive side and one from the non drive side in MM, and go with that if that rim was already laced to that hub.

Reach out to them and ask? Probably gonna be your best bet. It's hard to eyeball for most riders-that's probably it or close to it.

When I ran a coaster I got a tub of general purpose grease for like 5 bucks at an auto parts store, and just coated parts lightly.

Probably a pre-stretched chain set into a different driver. Are you putting 22" wheels on a frame/fork setup for 20"?

Reply to Driveway Grind Box! 5/25/2020 4:45 AM

I recommend popping the angle off, painting the box and the angle as well. It will last longer, especially if you have a lot of humidity and/or rain/snow etc and especially if it will stay outside. Plus they look nicer when painted well.
