Um it will rust if you get water on it and if its exposed after a while. What you can do is get some semi-gloss clear and just spray that on there. It will seal it up and prevent rust.

Thats an old picture but really all you have to do is get some paint stripper. I used aircraft stripper and it works pretty good.
