There were all on top of the coating, so they just peeled off. Then I used a little goo-gone for the wee bit of sticker residue left behind.

I just got a set of the Amber 8" bars on sale for $10. Some damned fine bars for that price. It was my first experience with Vein BMX and... man, it was a good one. I'll be buying from them again, no doubt about it.

I got nothin' man. I'm still riding all my stock 20Forty parts, except for the bars and stem (cuz the stock ones were TOO small) and tires (because the stock tires kept sliding out from underneath me at my local park). Unless you've got money to burn,

Ok, so, here's my "race" bike with the Amber Veil bars installed.

Yeah, yeah, it's not the same red. Kinda bummed about that, but... I mean... it doesn't look horrible. Anyway, they seem to be decent bars. They seem solid and it puts ... more »

I ordered a set myself, for my "race" bike. Like you, I figured that $10 for a set of 8" bars is a deal, even if they only last a few months.

I run Sunday 24umph XL bars (7.75" rise) and a Sunday Freeze stem (top-load) on my Mirraco, and I greatly prefer the taller bars. I'm not as hunched over when I ride, and it's easier for me to lift the front end (for manuals and bunny hops and the like). ... more »

It is harder to throw a 24" around as easily as one can throw around a 20", no question about it. At 6'3" and about 240 lbs, though, I just don't feel stable on a 20". At your height and weight, you might feel great on a 20" and feel that a 24" is too ... more »

Yup yup! They also have an old-school Hutch-like seatpost clamp, too. One of these days I'm going to get both for my race bike, a GHP Twenty4 I'm setting up with "retro" parts wherever possible.

That looks surprisingly similar to the 20Forty in geometry and styling. The component groups look similar. I think either would be a great choice (of course, I'm biased, I ride a 20Forty. I also have a soft spot for FA, though, too.)

There are so many awesome 24" bikes right now. The Stolen Saint is a good one. If you're an ex-80s rider, you should take a look at the SE fluted seatpost, bring a bit of old-school flair to your new-school ride.

I grew up racing on 20s. When I started racing again last year, I just didn't feel stable on a 20. Even the long top-tube models which are supposed to fit big guys like me (6'3", ~240lbs). So I went 24... I actually stopped racing (well, I never actually ... more »
