So u eliminated that a dried up chain ain't the noise. remove the chain and isolate the noise to the crank or rear hub.
first lube up the chain. could just be dried up and making noise. I used a wax base lube found at wal mart. last but 3-4 weeks after that i can hear chain again.

Put a small amount of blue threadlock on the crank bolts.
i like my Ratchet. only skipping ones a month or under high high torque (uphill). 20+ more bucks. i'll get the one with the bigger bearings and pawls. the Animal Bearing>bushing.

Use a impact gun. Or take it to a auto shop and have them use a impact gun on it.
This is for anyone that want to know the size of the 25t or 28t sprocket. To find out if a bigger sprocket may hit the chainstay. Also i was told that Eastern bikes with wide bottom bracket can'tt fit anything bigger then 25T. Not true they can go up ... more »
