Added reply in a thread Another back pain thread… but this time about disk degeneration 5/23/2022 1:26 AM

Shorter stem will decrease reach (obvs) but will also affect how it feels to turn your bars. Apparently shorter is much nicer feeling for barspins, but my son has a short stem which feels a bit janky when just cruising around imo. You can kind of offset ... more »

Added reply in a thread Bmx top bolt making creaky noise 5/19/2022 6:45 AM

How far does your stem go onto your steerer? The top of the steerer should be as close to the top of the stem as possible, without bottoming out. No more than 1/4". Grease the compression bolt threads, and tighten it pretty tight. If the headset binds, ... more »

Grease everything apart from bar clamping area and steerer tube clamping area. Including stem bolts and the compression bolt. Even between spacers/stem. Everything should be clamped down and tight. But creaking comes from small movements. So, chances ... more »

Added reply in a thread Rear wheel cannot be fitted properly 5/17/2022 12:41 PM

Technically, once you've tightened one side, the wheel should naturally sit straight in the dropouts. If it doesn't it's typically either the wheel being out of dish, the axle being bent, a bent dropout, or the frame being twisted

Added reply in a thread Learning manuals after wheelies 5/17/2022 12:39 PM

Take your chain off. But, you're probably not finding the correct balance point, as there's a pretty different technique between the 2. Try getting your ass as far back as possible, your arms straight, and keep your front wheel pretty close to the ground. ... more »

Added reply in a thread chain breaker 5/17/2022 11:20 AM

I know how to use a chain breaker. I've used a lot of different chain breakers over the years. And park pins are the only one's I've ever snapped. Disagree as much as you want, but chances are I've replaced a lot more chains than you

Added reply in a thread getting back on 20" 5/16/2022 12:30 PM

.02 is only about half a link. So get a frame that allows an extra full link and I guarantee it'll be a noticeable difference. Or, you know, just carry on moaning like a little bitch instead of listening to advice from people that have more experience. ... more »

Lower bars, longer chainstays

Added reply in a thread chain breaker 5/15/2022 10:49 AM

I used one at work for years and it was ok. But a 510 won't fit in it. Pretty sure I still have mine here somewhere. And park pins are shit

Added reply in a thread Frame Size - Big feets 5/15/2022 10:47 AM

I definitely agree with the latter

Added reply in a thread chain breaker 5/15/2022 4:01 AM

Yes. That chain breaker is for regular chains. It's a crap tool anyway, so even if you had a 410 you'd probably break the pin the first time you use it. The shadow chain breaker is solid. I use the United chain breaker and it does the job

In BMX it's still called a driver. It's not a cassette as you can only put a single cog on it. Best bet is to search for your specific hub, as that pawls/springs/ratchet rings are hub specific. The lock ring is industry standard. You could probably get ... more »

Added reply in a thread help in new bars 5/11/2022 1:52 PM

Massively personal preference. If you were riding low bars back in the day, you'll likely struggle if you go too high. I absolutely hate anything over 9" (gigiddy) with a front load. But, your frame has long chainstays. I'd say leave it as it is if it's ... more »
