Added reply in a thread Odyssey springfield brakes - Ubrake hardware question 10/14/2020 8:00 PM

Hey, I randomly came across this thread while trying to use my own Odyssey Springfield brake and then I forgot about it. I bought the Springfield for a midschool frame I was working on, and it turned out that the Springfield doesn't provide enough clearance ... more »

38 and bought my first bmx bike a couple years ago. I've never really enjoyed going to the gym myself. But now I'm always looking forward to the next time I can get on my bike.

I hear you! Good luck healing up. This is the one I got: https://azzpadz.com/store-2/azzpadz-original/

Thanks, nice to see some pro-safety-gear comments! Yeah, even if I have a minor slip-up, I find that I'm better off just stopping for the day because my headspace isn't the same any more. Just takes time to build confidence up again.

Thanks! Sounds like a good plan. Having gear on definitely helps me mentally. Good luck!

I feel your pain! A couple years ago I was practicing getting my front tire higher up and looped out and landed on my back/butt. I had to make a long drive later that day and it was terrible ha ha. When I got back a few days later, I ordered a Demon ... more »

I emailed them last year to ask about the headtube angle on the 2017 Shovelhead. It was 75. I'm guessing it's the same on the 2018, but feel free to ask them. I was shopping around for something with 74.5, which was why I wrote in the first place.

I've also ordered from BMX Guru and really like them. I placed an order for tires, had second thoughts about the tire size, and had a friendly email exchange (they changed my order before shipping). Also been happy with Albe's, Planet BMX, and Porkchop ... more »

I split my time between a midschool bike and a modern bike, so I like my modern bike to be as light as possible ha ha. The Traildigger still strikes me as a decent complete with a good weight for the price, and something I’d be willing to upgrade down ... more »

I noticed that too--new Traildigger looks great to me! I have a Mongoose Mode 900 that I've been planning on improving with some new parts. Seriously considering the Traildigger instead. Even with the steel bars and fork, it's only 25.5 pounds. Eventually ... more »

Fellow American with one. But I'm going to wait until I have some other new parts before I put it on, so you could be the only one here with the sprocket on your bike! Very cool to have something that feels like a "limited edition." For those of you ... more »

No problem, always cool to see someone make something new! I'll check out the sprockets.

Thanks for posting the price. If that's the avg price in the UK, you should do OK. It is steep for a US buyer--converted to around $600? I could still see some good reasons to buy: great geometry, supporting a forum member taking a risk, the likelihood ... more »

I was just looking at it in the Bike Checks. 20.75 tt, love it. Well done!

I've seen your plans come up before on here--I definitely think you'll be filling a gap! The dimensions sound great. The few times I see a frame with 74.5 ht, it's for trails and the cs is way too long. I'm glad there's going to be a tt that's less than ... more »

Added reply in a thread Screw it, lets debate geometry 10/1/2017 5:17 AM

My point is, I think there's a market for a complete or a frame that's 74.5, 71, less than 21 tt, and not made for trails. Seems silly to have to spring for a custom frame for classic geometry.

Added reply in a thread Screw it, lets debate geometry 9/30/2017 7:07 PM

Here's my gripe: Seems like every contemporary bmx bike has a 75° head tube angle and a 71° seat tube angle. What about a 74.5° head tube? It's a classic size. I do see some trail bikes with 74.5, but I don't want a trail bike. I want something for all-around ... more »

Thanks! I like that S&M frame a lot--hadn't come across it before. I still have to give the op credit for his shorter CS, which I like.

It looks like you're going forward with the 74.5 HT and 71 ST, and I just wanted to pipe in to say I think you'd be filling a need. I've been looking around to see what's out there with a 20.75 or 21 inch top tube with 74.5 / 71. Maybe I'm crazy, but ... more »

Hey, thanks for the detailed reply. This helps a lot. I have a 20 but I'd like something a little bigger to commute downtown. I'd also like to be able to do some basic stuff on it while I'm out and about. Sounds like a 24 would do the job no problem. ... more »
