So the Fiend hub was a little bit trickier because I had to remove the NDS cone nuts, but here is a basic breakdown that should be applicable for the Balance: 1. Clean area. I like using a white paper towel because I can see the black components easier.

Sure thing. I’m finishing up a consultation with a client now, but will disassemble/reassemble and post some pics. Like I said it’s a Fiend Cab V2 so it is a male hub; however the maintenance process and internals are extremely similar to the Balance. ... more »

It seems like you’re talking about the clutch (the circular rim/cone shaped thing with screw threads in the center). If that is the case, then I would always hand tighten the clutch to the driver never with tools…in fact you should only really tighten ... more »

Sorry for the late response…literally the first time I checked Vital in months. Are you talking about the driver (the thing with 9-teeth and screws into the clutch)? I would recommend a rubber mallet until the bearing I is flush with the shell. Note: ... more »

Looking at the date stamp you’ve probable already figured it out but…I have an &M Holy Diver that I ride occasionally. It has a 12.7 rear end I run slammed with a half link. It is a really tight slam, where the chain tension is almost too tight. ... more »

Big fan of Powers. Just sold some stuff there yesterday. They always have a good selection of parts in house, friendly/professional/knowledgeable staff and can be easily reached with questions.

Don’t see anything in the current inventory on my “list”...but will use the opportunity to give you props. Bought R25 forks last week. Great seller communication, very reasonable price, and the forks were stretch-wrapped (to me an indication of someone ... more »

I feel like there are several service guys in the BMX industry that really keep things running and are legit. Ryan has hooked me up as well and is extremely responsive.

Happy birthday, man! Using your energy in another passion besides BMX is a good thing. If the cost exceeds the benefit of riding (aggressively) then you gotta look out for yourself. No matter what you do, make sure you do something you enjoy.

Weber’s Way to Grill (book) is a must have. While it’s obviously targeted at Weber grill owners, I have been using it for over 10 years. Not only does it help you with the appropriate ratios to develop your own spice blends, sauce, marinades and rubs, ... more »

Rant makes similar hub guards (where you can just zip tie to the spokes)... not sure the price, but Rant stuff is pretty budget friendly.

I think, just like the everything with BMX parts, that the important thing is that you like it and are comfortable riding it. I would be stoked to try out that Hybrid hub.

I just laced a Fiend Cab V2 to my Federal Rims...feels heavy AF! Feels super burley and solid tho which is kind of what I was aiming for.

I have an Animal V4 sprocket that I use on a 24mm spindle. It’s weird that even for the 24mm spindle I still need an adaptor. Regardless, I don’t have any 22m, 19mm spindles...you’re more than welcome to the adaptors if interested.
