I bought a used ATF 22 and am getting it built up to fit me. I noticed that the clearance between the front tire and the fork crown is really small, less than 1/2". Is this typical with an S&M 22 pitchfork and a mainline tire?
Seems like most bmx bikes I look at have around an inch of clearance at this point...I'm mostly asking because every once in a while a rock sticks in the tire tread and then hits the fork crown/bottom of the steer tube and makes a clunking noise. I'm a little concerned that a big enough rock will chock the tire completely, which wouldn't be cool, cause I'll end up on the wrong side of the handlebar.

The Mainlines balloon up more than wat their size says. It's normal. U'll b fine. I have Mainlines on 1 of my 3 22" bikes. Works great especially for dirt.
