Looks awesome, is that a custom built frame or is it the standard spec for the 22" ATF?

|

2/20/2014 12:22 AM

It's the standard, longer TT version. I now know why so many say they won't go back to a 20". It feels like I remember bikes feeling when I was around 13 or 14. Amazing!!!

Sounds good, I'm 6' so a 22" might be good for me. However I won't get one myself until I've tried one, or at least until I have got enough money spare so I can build one up as a second bike.

Oh Hell Yeah Chuck! That came together real well! The Failure Seat does look pretty sweet! Deffo still needs a Coxie Seat! Fits in with the whole S&M/Fit/Revenge build! Love It Mate! I'm still unsure about the 22" I'm slowly creeping towards one, but I wont give up on 20" until absolutely necessary haha smile

Thanks guys! I love this thing! The next two days are in the 50's, so the plan is to put some time in on it, both in the neighborhood and riding around the town, looking for places to ride with the oldest boy.

@Topsey, I'm going to try and order that thing again, the web site was giving me a fit the other day.
@Broken, you know it! Haha.

Thanks brother!! And the only thing that keeps me off my bike normally, (aside from being busy with my kids) is deeper snow, or once they put the salt down. I won't cover my bike in that corrosive mess.

How are you liking those Perfect 10s on that build? They are huge!

We've built up a couple 22" bikes here at the shop and have always used Grand Slam XLTs, they seem about the right size for a 22" wheel bike.

That's really nice chuck, the red & chrome work really well.

How much of a difference is the 22" compared to a 20" Did it take long to get used to, and was your tricklist effected in anyway?

Thanks!

As to a difference, my wife still hasn't noticed the size difference, even when the bikes are all next to each other, lol.
It does feel a little bigger, but not nearly what I would have thought. Going from 21.25 to 22.125" TT length, at first felt roomy, but I had the layback and railed seat on it, so changing to the normal post took a little of that away.
It honestly just feels like my bike did back before I was fully grown, for lack of a better explanation. Not too big, and more like in the "Sweet spot". The rear is about 1/2" longer, then add the additional 1/2 or so for wheel circumference, and the balance point is slightly farther back, but it's not as huge an adjustment as it seems to be made out here on the interwebs, haha. I'm sure most would have little or no issues with the change, unless they're 5'4" or something and should stick with the 20".

As to the trick list, winter is my biggest enemy at the moment. I threw together a shitty little ramp last year to just play around on. The oldest and I dragged it out of the garage a few days ago on a warmer day, and was checking the landing area out, and just from a hop as I went around the ramp, my tires sank 3" and I had to fight going otb, haha. Now we're having some freezing rain and snow, so there's that. Yay.

Hope my rambling has answered you at least a little bit, haha.

Haha yeah that answered my question, it makes sense that the bike would feel like it did when you were younger.

I'd like to have have a go on a 22" on some trails, I reckon it would feel good over dirt jumps.

Thanx chuck.
