I’ve changed a few things on it, mostly out of necessity. The seat was uncomfortable, the max psi on the tires was too low, and the chain broke. My philosophy is that, since it’s an inexpensive bike, I should stick with inexpensive parts.

I love the way it feels though. Maybe someday I’ll build a custom bike with the same geometry.

Here’s what I’ve spent:

Bike: $200
Fit Barstool Seat: $32.95
Stolen Thermalite Seat Post: $16.95
Kenda K-Rad Tires 20 x 2.125: $19.95 each
SRAM PC1 Full-Link Chain: $15
Mongoose Head Tube Decal: $10
Stem: $0

I had planned to replace the stem, because I know people have had issues with their bars slipping. My bars slipped once, so then I took the screws out and greased them up and screwed them down tight. No problems since then, so it’s still the original one.

The decal is pure vanity, just to give the bike some old-school cool ha ha.

Nice ride. I'm willing to bet you'll be buying some more new parts as early as next week.

Thanks! Ha ha ha, we'll see.

Don't cheap out on your parts man. Get good ones so they don't break a third time.

Always down to ride with new people hmu here

That's fair advice. I'll post if / when I replace anything.

I think this is a super sick build. I might even go buy one for my woman... this looks so old school yet so modernized, the price is almost to good not to build one. Keep me posted on how she holds up.

Hey, thanks! Still holding up fine.
