If I cared I would have cut it down. No offense, I like your riding and you seem cool, but why so salty?

Rode all day yesterday, headset came loose because I have to run a spacer on top ofvthe stem and it slipped.... But I fixed that, and got new gaps down because this frame is so comfy and natural feeling.

I see you're running the TTW tire. How's it holding up in the dirt?

It's been pretty good. Just don't expect to be ripping trails with really rough dirt and shallow berms. Like lots of little rocks and dirt clods. But if it's a smooth, perfect set of trails, smooth dirt, good flow, I prefer them over a more aggressive tire in the rear. The side tread really helps out.

Did it slip because it wasn't tightened enough, or is that just a bad idea to put a spacer between stem and fork-bolt?

Bad idea. It made wierd grooves in the stem.

I have two mpegs, a merritt tension gaurd, and a DG infinity gaurd in the mail. And if anyone could tell me how v monster v2 tires grip, that'd be great. Lookin for a skinnier front tire.

I was more interested in strength/safety, do you think it compromised the itnegrity of that area by putting the spacer there? I LOVE my stem, but some scuffs don't bother me.

No. It just didn't work well. The scuff/groove was just where it would slip into and get worse, then the spacer would move that tiny bit down, and one session later my headset would be loose. But that might be because my stem is completely pinched. Still, it didn't work well, looked bad, and cutting down your steer tube isn't very hard.
